    Default Have you donated yet?

The situation in Haiti is so sad. I donated a little money to Red Cross. I can´t give a lot but I guess every little counts. What about you, have you donated money to help Haiti?

If you haven't donated yet, how about giving an hour's pay so the Salvation Army?? LOW overhead, and they've been ministering to hurting people in Haiti for over a century already.

Our church has a member who went to Haiti and founded an orphanage and school several years ago - Damou Christian Mission- they were spared in the two quakes thus far, and are feeding the hungry and preparing for a large influx of newly orphaned from Port au Prince as soon as the road is repaired.

Remember our Haitian brothers and sisters in prayer.

Ironically,I just did before I came on here. I gave 2x what DH and I agreed on but I know he won't be mad. I can't imagine how frightened the extra aftershock this morning has everyone. It must seem like their crumbling into the sea. Dh was in the Bahamas when it happened and that was stressful.

I have already donated and will do so again - they are going to need help for a long time. Sending prayers and aloha to all involved.

Nope, and I don't intend to. I strictly donate locally and while that may sound horrid, we have way too much "need" locally for me to in good conscience send my money to another country. Our unemployment rate here is unreal and I don't see things getting better any time soon.

My prayers and thoughts are with the people of Haiti and will be for years to come.

I gave to Doctors Without Borders. I am reluctant to give to the Red Cross when their director makes such a high salary. I believe it is $500,000.

    Oh no! We'll miss you!

Personally, I am going to wait a bit ~ donations have a tendency to dry up after the headlines start to fade. When we do, we will be dividing it up between human and animal agencies like we always do.

Yes, but to missions. I have a huge problem with how little aid actually gets to those in need otherwise.

We already donate 1% (around $1000) of DH's annual salary to a charitable organization. We also donate a limited amount of money but lots of tangible items to a local group that provides for residents of a particularly poor neighborhood, a select few animal organizations, Salvation Army and the Ronald McDonald House charity throughout the year.

I don't think we will be giving much, if any, to the Haiti relief efforts. I have nothing against donating to Haiti, but I have to draw a line somewhere. Otherwise, we would be broke from all of the donations - DH is a softy and wants to save the world.
