    Default Made a mistake

I'm "semi" retired. A year ago, I took a job to help pay off my bills. I had no idea how much I'd make as it is part time. Well, the year ended and gave me a pretty good idea how much I'd make in a year, so I called Social Security and told them how much I expected to make in 2010. BIG mistake. I expected them to reduce my benefits...they stopped them for three months! Between my wife and myself, we'll be short around $800 a month until May! Makes me wish I joined here earlier last year & built up an emergency fund.

I am so sorry this happened to you.((hugs)). Maybe there are some things you can cut temporarily for 3 months. There are alot of really good posts about how to cut down on bills and groceries. Also, check into temporary food stamps and food banks. Your elec. company may have some kind of aid too. That's what these programs are for and you should use them. Don't wait until things get harder on you - go ahead and check into them. Also, call local churches for help. Good luck.

WOW, I think that is whats wrong with the Government!

They actually pay you not to work.

I hate this happened to you and I hope May comes very quickly. Any chance your going to get a tax refund to help one of those months?

    A wee confused here....
you gave them a estimated amount of how much money you MIGHT make....and they stop your monthly checks for 3 months.....
what happens if you don't make that much ?
what happens if you get hurt and can't work ?

I tell them and they give it back at the end of the year. OH, and sometime in the middle of the year when the IRS tells them how much I made last year...they'll do it again.

BTW, I'm not hurting so bad as to lose anything...I just can't pay down my cards as fast as I want.

BT, BTW (like PPS) the no eat out and no spend challenge is working great.

Going to work on a web site this week end to sell some stuff.
