Yes, there is a free lunch

Now and then. I was called in early to work today. I had supper prepared to bring with me, but nothing I could take for lunch, and nothing I could grab quickly at home without cooking and there wasn't time for that. So I went by Arby's.

I ordered a combo, $6.16 (grumble, grumble), got to the window. I only had $3 in cash, so I hold out my CC, the girl says "That will be $7.90 and careens off with it before I could get out a word. When she got back I asked her how we got from 6.19 to 7.90. The tax, she says. "The tax was nearly two dollars?" "Yes, m'am." No. I told her firmly that was not right.

She went for the manager. I told her the same thing. She looked at the ticket, said she would go see the owner. She was gone so long I wondered if they had gone outside to look at the display menu, and I'm sure the people in the cars behind we were thinking "Just take your food and go, lady!" Eventually she came back, said there was a new computer system that had some real glitches, and the meal would be free.

I was glad I was really paying attention or I would have paid way too much extra for a meal that was already too expensive. My unplanned and irritating "spend day" turned back into a no spend day. Happy ending. Now to just get through this long day at work.

I had a similar situation on new years day... our sheetz has a special on that day to give away free coffee and of course I went... we had 10 people at the house and 4 of us went to get the coffee for all of us. we get there at 3:45pm and we get our coffee and procede to the check out and by this time it is 4:03 (Allot of folks inline infront of me) and I got a pack of smokes so I was waiting for the $6.00 total and handed the cashier my credit card as she is swiping the card she mumbles that will be $19.65 WTH? I say it should be $6.00 and she procedes to say that is for the smokes and the 10 coffees.... I say no coffee is free today and she said that ended at 4pm ... that was a new one... so I protest and say it is 4:03... She gave me lots of trouble and i ask for a manager and he said it is after 4 we went around for awhile and I said I want my money refunded.... he did and I left all 10 coffees there.... they refused to give.. needless to say I have not been back and refuse to go back... that was wrong... Grrr I thaught the customer was always right?
