How to cover a cake without a cake dome
I made a two layer cake tonight and do not have a cake dome or any container big enough to fit it in. It's frosted with store bought frosting. How should I go about storing it? Foil?

I like to use a large kettle/soup pot turned upside down on it. That way you won't ruin your frosting.

Put toothpicks in it and drape plastic wrap over it.

I cover mine with a large plastic bowl. One that is wide enough and tall enough to cover without messing up the frosting!

I use plastic wrap too, but insted of toothpicks (which works great too) I lightly spray the plastic with pam(or any other brand of non-stick spray in a can product) and then it will not "stick" to the frosting. I also do this with deviled eggs, or other "sticky" foods.

I would do the saran wrap and toothpicks and I store it in microwave, they don't seem to dry out as fast when I do that.
