That's the reason I didn't get one from our electric co. I don't want them messing with my settings. Our digital thermostat was under $20 and was the first thing we bought when we moved here.
All I can think is that it's not set properly. Go over the instructions again, or have someone else go over them. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes will see what you missed.
Failing that, call them on Monday and ask.Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

Can you say "Big Brother"?
We paid for our energy efficient windows, window screens, awnings, energy efficient window coverings, and the extra layer of insulation on the windows using bubble wrap to keep out the cold and reduce use of electricity.
WE paid for all the expensive LED and CFL bulbs we switched out for perfectly good incandescent bulbs. And we've NEVER had a CFL last longer than an incandescent bulb, and we've used them since they were available a couple decades ago.
WE bought the energy efficient Infrared Heater which costs us 2-CENTS per hour to run, instead of running our whole house furnace for much of the winter.
We choose to keep the house MUCH colder than most people in the winter (62°F) and generally only run the whole house furnace less than 2-weeks TOTAL (during sub-freezing temperatures), and set the thermostat much warmer (80°F) in the 100°F+ Kansas summers.
We purchased energy efficient appliances.
We got rid of our free-standing freezer in order to use less energy and do without the convenience of having a freezer.
It's US who are considering having Zone Ductless Air-Conditioning installed to the tune of thousands of dollars, instead of air conditioning the whole house to cut electricity use for cooling.
We don't use a clothes dryer.
We made those decisions, not the stupid, wasteful, electric company (they just let my sister have 9-months of FREE electricity because of their stupidity and she tried to get things straightened out for 3 months until she gave up).
And most of all, it's US who pay our bill.
If they want to do something constructive, instead of something intrusive, give us a break for being so responsible!!!

Does your power company have a website? Ours has programming instructions and contact info in case you are having a problem. At this point, I think you need to contact the power company.

i am going to call them monday...getting frustrated. and yes i did sign .....w/out reading it!!!! my fault! it is just frustrating that they can control your settings.....
the reson i did it was because the one we purchased about 7 yrs ago...the numbers were all foggy looking, etc. and i thought...what a deal. a free programmable thermostat..we need that! oh my what was i thinking. i think tonight since it is on the warm side here (50) and the house is at 67...(not my choice) that i may shut it off comp0letely from 11p - 5am.
thoughts?
appreciate the comments...thanks

Yeah, if it is blowing too hot for you and you can't turn it down, shut it off. No reason you should have to use MORE gas on a setting that is supposed to be saving you money.

I agree with Grainlady....Big Brother
Can you manually turn it on and off? Or is that against their rules...Crock of crapBank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.
