Anyone else get hit? Antivirus Live
This is a nasty Trojan Virus that hit me HARD yesterday.
Antivirus Live is a fake security software which uses fraudulent strategies by displaying false or exaggerated security issues on your computer rather than any legitimate ones to coerce you into purchasing their software.
Antivirus Live is a new malicious specimen from the same group of fake antivirus software as Antivirus System Pro.
I was able to get rid of it by restoring to earlier time via Safe Mode and then get online and run a Anti-malware program. Removed 333 infected files!
Was just curious if anyone has been affected?!?

I don't know what my firewall and virus protection stopped, but it stopped something. Whatever it was, started when dh was on the computer. He thought it was an update, and clicked okay. I was able to save the computer though.

Yup. Dh's computer got hit. It's in the shop being cleaned & restored right now. He clicked a link to photobucket. After that, all hell broke loose. A few other people on a board he frequents clicked the same link to a photobucket and also got hit.

If I don't know what it is, I don't click on it. Updates or not. I usually google it or ask a few others who have similar software to see if its just me or a true update ready for d/l.
Lately I have been getting emails from friends - legit friends - with no subject line and a link in the email. I just fwd it back to them asking if they meant to send it out or if it was an email worm/virus. So far 10/10 times its a virus that goes through their addy book.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I wasn't given the option to click anything(at least I don't think I did) it just came out of no where as a pop up and i couldn't get away from it
Neither my firewall or my anti-virus caught it. I was on Photobucket and another "Myspace comment" site when it hit.

No you probably weren't given the option to click anything. The entire popup was rigged to be the "OK" to install. Its a picture that looks like it has an ok and cancel button but really the WHOLE PIC is the trigger. People hit cancel trying to close it, and that's it, they're sucked in.
When the popup appears, there will be a tiny little X in the top right corner of the pop up window. That is the ONLY button on the popup safe to click.
The BEST thing to do when you see a popup like that, however, is to hit "ALT-F4" and close the browser completely. That avoids any possible clicks that would be bad.If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
