You will need to leave space at the top of the jar because it will expand as it freezes, but otherwise it is ok. I leave 1-2 inches.

I usually put it into sandwich bags and freeze. Then I rip off the bag and defost/nuke. Make sure you eat the leftovers in front of DH. Tell to go sit in the garage because the other "tools" miss him.
Alot of people freeze in glass but eventually the glass will weaken and it may break into you food. Plus you need to leave expansion room if you do. I'm too clutzy.SEriously. I am.

I opt to freeze in 'freezer' zip bags. Be sure to squish out all the air before you seal it. I also like to tape a note or write on the bag what it is and the date you froze it for future reference.

Libby-agreed. If theres a lot,I use a cookie sheet to get them flat. You should see DH's face when I break off a chunk and put it back in another bag.lol.

The more fat,the less time. I would use it w/in 1-3mo. depending on packaging. Glass prob. does win that way. Welcome.

I use plastic in my freezer and for liquid type things I use a plastic container, not ziploc. If you use ziploc, make sure you don't have a 'leaky corner'.....been there, done that. Put it 'on something' (cookie sheet) until frozen - I have done that.
I agree with FW - no glass goes in my freezer. No fun to clean up when you bump them and they break! Frozen or not - it still makes a mess!

I use glass, but I covet plastic jars! Just careful how I put them in the freezer. Then I mark on my calendar when we are going to eat that meal. I hate freezer inventories.
