Have you seen the price for cream cheese???
the name brand is over $1.69....even generic is $1.39 at Aldi's..I just paid .69 for generic a couple of months ago at Aldi's...talk about a price increase!! Shoprite has the philly on sale for .99 I bought 8 of them but was fortunate enough to find $1.00/2 coupons and paid .49 a piece..I plan to buy another 10 before the sale ends so I' not stuck paying full price for at least the next 6 months or so....

Can you freeze cream cheese?

My Aldi's says it just lowered the whipped cream cheese price from 1.49 to 1.39
I can buy a block of cream cheese at Aldi's for .99 cents

Kroger had 10 for 10 last week here, that is the cheapest I have seen it in many months.
I think the increase is because the increase in the cost of feed. I remember reading that now we are making ethenyl out of corn, it is raising the price of corn.

i too rarely use it.
during the holidays the store brand was $1.00/ea.
i never even look at crm cheese except for holiday time.....
there is a difference in whipped crm cheese and regular. if you were to use whipped in say mashed potatoes, be prepared for them be kind of "puffy"

We use it in smashed potatoes, mac n cheese, on bagels, in dips, cheese cake, etc...
You can freeze it. But it won't be the same consistency once thawed. It will be good for cooking with but not for things like spreading on bagels.DD (19)

Yes, I do it all the time. If I have some that is about to expire - it goes in the freezer!
Where are you at TG?
I was surprised last week when our milk had gone up over $2.....
(2%).......our butter has been on sale for 1.79 (this week) and I can still get cream cheese for .99 but that is what it was running around Xmas time........not always Philly though - but I don't care about the brand for that. Even our mayo (BF) is on sale right around $2 now........and it has been up over $3 for AGES!

Cream cheese was plentiful and cheap during the holidays and I stocked up. Store brands were in the 69-79 cent range and Philly was 99 cents. I like Philly.
I use it for cheesy corn and crab rangoon, and I sometimes go way out there and put it on bagels.
I pay 4.25 for a half gallon of lactose milk. You're all still getting a better deal than I am.Use it up, Wear it out,

I had not noticed -- I had bought so much back when it was on sale because it will last for many months if unopened. I hate to hear about rising prices, though!

I haven't been able to get it for less than $1.29/8oz for a loooooong time.
Two things that get me though....a gallon of milk at the commissary (where they don't jack up the prices, it's almost at cost) is $1-2 less than at a regular grocery store or even Super Walmart.
Another, I don't understand when SKIM milk costs MORE than WHOLE milk. Riddle me that one....
