Have any Fruit Trees?
Please tell me about what kind you have...I really want to purchase a variety of Dwarf fruit trees..I would also like to set up a little mini fruit/veggie stand on my property this year .....so if you have any input on that I would be very happy to hear..
I know that my fruit trees most likely won't produce this year for me to sell at my stand but my Brother has a whole orchard at his house that I can pick from and sell..I hope to be able to sell enough to fund my Christmas this year..

I wish I had some fruit trees! When I was a little girl my grandmother had a pear tree. We loved climbing the tree, collecting the pears, and helping her can them. They were the best tasting canned pears.
On the other hand my Aunt had a peach tree. I hated having to climb that tree and collect those peaches. I would itch so bad! My mother used to give my Benadryl. To this day I will not eat peaches and I can not stand touching one.
My Uncle in PA had 6 apple trees. We would climb them and collect the apples. For days my mom, Aunts, and grandma would can apples and freeze apple pies. The best was when we would throw apples at each other while we were up in the trees. Of course we got yelled at.Carrie, ravenmaniac - I love my Ravens!!!!

When we moved into our home going on 4 years ago, we decided to plant apple trees, cherry trees, plum trees, and assorted fruit bushes. And we are the WORST tree growers EVER! No fruit yet, we can barely get them to produce quality foliage! Ha! It's always a treat when the stupid things even come up in the spring. Hope you have better luck with them than us!

I really want to plant fruit trees too. Maybe a local nursery could help you. I might do some online research.

We have quite a few fruit trees
plum
cherry, pie cherries
peach
apple
pear
our nursey told us last year we can plant pears here now, we had 6 pears from our new trees the first year. We also planted 2 more peach trees and they bloomed but didnt produce fruit. They have new kinds coming out all the time so you might check and see what you can plant where you are.Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

We have cherry trees and peach trees. Raspberries, boysenberry.

Four apple trees (2 Gravensteins, 1 Spartan and 1 Transparent), 2 Italian prune plums, 2 Bartlett pears. The pear trees aren't really happy here, but the apples and plums do really well.
We also have 2 grapevines, a row of raspberries and three beds of strawberries. Yum! We love fruit!

Oh, yes! In fact, in addition to eating lots of them fresh, we froze so many last summer that we were able to have strawberry shortcake for lunch today. At the peak of production in June, we fill two or three big bowls every day. This is a typical day's harvest:

We have three beds, each about 18 feet long and three feet wide. One was already here when we bought the place, and other two we planted ourselves. For the beds we planted, we started with six plants in each. They spread by themselves, so now the beds are all full. In fact, we have to thin all three beds out every year now.
To keep the birds out, I built a berry house over them. It is a simple wooden structure, tall enough to walk around in, with nylon garden netting over the top and sides. There is a door that we keep closed normally.
In the photo, all the greenery in the foreground is strawberries. You can see the wooden posts of the berry house.

I planted dwarf apple (2 kinds) and dwarf peaches (2 kinds) and one lone almond tree last year. Ours had fruit the first year, but alas the deer ate them before they were ready to be harvested. This year I'm going to be prepared and try to keep those pests away. I've heard that you can hang mesh bags of moth balls on the trees to keep them away or sprinkle human hair around them. They ate the fruit and shredded up the leaves...little b*stards!
