My Frugal Houseapes :)

I had a good laugh about this....
My "Terror Twins" (share a birthday 2 yrs apart), ages 6 & 8 were outside on the patio today & asked me..."Mom, can you buy us some more chalk so we can draw pictures out here?" I had to tell them that they had to wait until the next time that I went to the store.a little while later I looked out the window & I saw them collecting caliche rocks.(Sometime ago, they discovered that caliche rocks make very nice pieces of " chalk"). I asked them "what are you two doing?" They proudly informed me " Mom, you don't have to go to the store now & spend money- we found some chalk!"....and now, my patio is nicely decorated with their artwork

very smart kids. Id be very proud too, knowing your kids are automaticaly learning self reliance . WTG kids!!!

That's what we used to do! And pieces of red brick would make 'red' marks. Only the rich kids had shop bought coloured chalk!

I too am a "Terror Twin" my brother (24 months younger to the day) We would do the exact same thing yours discovered!! We never had real chalk it was too expensive. Great job!!
