Dd got a scholarship!
to the university she was accepted to. It's for 8000.00 payable at 2000.00 each year for four years. Combined with the Promise Scholarship that would give her 6700.00 a year. Now she just has to decide if she wants to go there or not. They sent a form telling her they need to know so if she doesn't want it they can give it to someone else.
I'm trying to get the stupid FAFSA thing done. I have an old computer and SLOW dialup internet. I'm trying to download the Adobe Reader right now so I can open the documents. It says it has 7 hours left LOL.S

Congrats! That's really terrific. If it's a good school, I hope she goes for it. I'm sure you're really proud of her.

Ugh...I hate filling out the FAFSA. Just did that myself the other day. You can try Foxit reader instead of Adobe reader if you want an Adobe alternative. With both, avoid installing any toolbars to your browser. I suppose that's how they keep it free.
...and Congratulations!

Oh that is fantastic!!

Our conversation about this last night.
Her- Mom I think I'm just going to go to the community college.
Me- It's up to you but I think you should take a couple of days and think about it before you turn down the scholarship. Once you turn it down, it's gone for good.
Her- I think I'm just going to the community college.
Me- Why?
Her- Because I don't have my driver's license and I don't want to go that far away without one. And because I'm scared to death to go that far away from home.
Me- So you think going to the cc for a couple of years will make you ready to go away to the university for your last two years.
Her- yes
Me- It's up to you. Just think about it for a day or two.
I'm trying very very hard to let this be HER decision. Part of me wants to protect her and tell her to stay here and go to the cc. Another part of me wants to tell her to go to the university. But she is almost 18 and this is just the first of many difficult decisions she will have to make in her adult lifetime. I feel that it needs to be HER decisions made for HER reasons.
I did finally get the Adobe Reader downloaded and at midnight last night got her Fafsa sent!S
