    Default Food Auction

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have discovered a new addiction. An auction house in my area auctions food every two weeks. It is salvage food, but all meats are frozen and there are no dents and rips in the other food. I spent $160 last night, but I bought enough food to last my family for at least three months. I bought 18 lbs of bacon at about $1.25 /lb. Ten bags of noodles at .45 each. Four containers of deodorant at .50 each. Three seasoning bottles at $1.00 each. Twelve three ounce bags of snack crackers at $5.00 a box. Eighteen lb of sausage at $1.25 a lb. Six ounce steaks at 1.00 each. Seasoned pork loins at 2.75 for 2 lb. A Mrs. Smith's lemon pie for $3.00. Plus many other great deals.

Wow thats fantastic. Ebay use to have auctions you could bid on bulk stuff from wharhouses. Not any more.

We used to go to food auctions. The place is now closed.
We used to get some good meat deals.

Only thing I can stress is...
KNOW your prices....and don't be caught in the heat of bidding.
Do they tell you the expiration date on the product ?

Sounds like a good way to stockpile, wish we had one around here, I've seen them on tv and it looks like you can really get some good deals!

They don't announce the expiration date, but you can look at the products before the auction and check out the dates yourself.

I know what you mean about the prices. They sold Hamburger Helper for $1.00 a box. Our local grocery ran a special 10 for $10 this week on Hamburger Helper.

There were few people there so the bidding was more for first choice on amounts.

The one I attended is 45 mins away also. I claim it as local because I live in a rural area. 45 mins to the next largest town is a once a week trip for me. LOL

You should definetly plan a trip. Take a BIG vehicle and a couple of friends to make it fun. Just don't get into a bidding war with your friends. LOL
