    Cool New/Old Found Money

It's gotta be over a year (at least) That me and hubby have bought things here and there that needed to be returned. Well, like everything else we don't know what to do with, we stick these things in the garage, most times to be forgotten about

Realizing all this stuff is all scattered about in there, or should I say "haunting" me , was the fact that I knew this stuff did not seeming to go anywhere That's when I decided, with the help of my 15YO, to take the "bull by the horns", gather it up and throw in the back of the van.

That Friday, I asked hubby to take a ride to Lowes with me. I "surprised" him when I said I had several returns, but for him not to worry because I promised I'd do all the talking. Most of the reason this stuff piled up was because he HATES returning things.

Well guess what?? After all was said and done, we wound up with a $156 store credit. Can you believe that? Not only were we able to get quite a few things we needed to fix up one of the kids BRs, we got it all with a 10% off coupon, and $56 left on the card to go back for the paint.

    Lesson learned....I hope .

ps- (SIGH) and i know for a fact there's 2 more items in there i still need to find "it will get better, it will get better, it will get better"

Way to go. And now you have space in your garage, too!

So Lowe's takes stuff back without receipts, even months afterward?

I know that when we use our debit card at Lowe's the transaction is stored in their system. We have returned many items without a receipt.

good job! i have trained myself for when something needs returned it goes into the passenger seat of my car...(doesn't matter what it is..well as long as it fits..lol).... then the next time i am in the general area i stop and return it....i also tape or tuck the receipt to it coz i have been known to have the item with me and the receipt at home...ugh...

if the item is too big to just cart around with me i stick it in a place in the garage that i am crawling over it everytime i get into my car...i can't forget about it that way....

if i don't use it..it is going back...i have been known many a time to return single nuts/bolts (when i buy them individually of course)....one more bolt in the garage is one more bolt in the garage too many....

LOVE this idea! I'm gonna try this for us, because it's one of our worst habits, and sadly the Lowe's items are just the beginning. JCP is next, but they're pretty strict about their 3 month limit on returns. However, depending on the clerk, sometimes they let you slide with a warning. Hopefully, I'll find that "nice" clerk

...and ContraryHousewife, they will let you bring stuff back w/o a receipt. Sadly on one thing though, I was bringing back wallpaper they clearanced out, and they could only offer me $1 a roll. Since I paid cash, they couldn't look up the sale. I decided to keep it to either pass on to someone, or put it out in my garage sale.
