The to do list
I am home today for the Holiday and my little boy is with his dad so it is a totally free day to get things done. So far I have slept in late, ate some leftover chicken wings, and played on Farmville. None of those were on the list! I am just now getting to making the list of what I'd hoped to accomplish today, and oh my is it long!
I've done really well with the daily list at work, since my job is creative and variable from day to day a list and prioritizing is essential to survival. Now I'm working on doing better on the home front with listing and prioritizing and ultimately accomplishing a goal or two this year!!
What are some of your to do list tips, essentials you keep on the list, or items that always hit low priority and never get done? Do you have a system that works well for you?

I don't like making a list but I just know what needs to get done and try to get it done. If I don't I then do it the next day that I'm off which is Tuesday. Like today I didn't get to the toilets so I will do that tomorrow when I make suet for the woodies, vacuum and dust & empty garbage cans cause the garbage man comes Wed. so I like to have all that ready. Today I did laundry and fed the birds and made cupcakes for my boys. Finished Bible study cause I go to bible study tonight. It works for me, you just have to find a system that works for you.I like to spread out the chores so it's not so stressful. JMHO

As far as a list. Pretty much every day I need to get something done either grocery shopping or cleaning. It is mainly cleaning. If I didn't keep to a schedule it would be to easy for me to not clean at all.

i do what i feel important first then move on to the rest.
i always change all handtowels in the bathrooms daily, chng kitchen towel at least once a day, do all doorknobs and light switches w/ clorox wipes at least every other day (to include remotes), empty trash every day or every other. i try to do at least 2 loads of laundry a day to keep up with it. i do sweep and swifter probaly 2 times a week.
every 3 - 4 days, i spray the toilets and wipe them down and flush! i wipe sinks out daily or every other.
just depends on the week sometimes.
although i do have a cleaning lady every few weeks so that is a big help!
i do a big grocery shop every 7 - 10 days and make only a few stop ins per week. i try to minimize those!
i am not a good list maker. if i make one, i always seem to misplace it!

I used to have a blackboard where I listed the jobs. Now that I don't have one anymore, things get overlooked.
We're hoping to move this spring (still househunting), and then I'll re-install a blackboard.

I don't do so good with lists because I'll make them and usually just let myself down. So what I routinely do, is that I make commitments. On Mondays, which is my only ~day~ that I commit to, I deep clean the kitchen and the 3 baths. During the week, I just do things as they "need" to be done. If the window or mirror gets smudged, I clean it right away. If somethin spills, out comes the mop. Of course I have my "dailys" where I make beds, laundry, etc., but I basically just 'clean as I go', and I'm happier this way for it. I've been doing things this way for years now.
I also have once a month BIGGER job commitments, like cleaning the chandeliers and ceiling fans.
