What was your favorite Childhood game
Mine was Hopscotch, red rover red rover.Handball, kick ball.. The games they have out now is nothing like we had. Red rover has been banned, some areas no longer have kick ball. Tetherball has been banned in some areas. Hopscotch is not heard of anymore. I asked my 6 year old grandson the other day if he played hopscotch and he said he had no clue what i was talking about..

re: childhood games
You've taken me down memory lane. I remember playing hopscotch at school and at home. At home we would draw out the squares in chalk on the sidewalk. Boy, those were the days when all the neighborhood kids actually played outside till dark, right?
I sure don't see that today in my neighborhood. Most kids now are watching TV or playing video games.

At recess we jumped rope , freeze tag and kickball. I had a best friend and we spent hours playing four square or singing Partridge Family songs while we swung at the park.

HopScotch was definetely up there, but since most of the kids on my block who we hung out with were boys, we played ALOT of ball games. I loved Ace-King, Slap, Punch, and my total fave...Stoop Ball.
When alot of girls came out, we'd always get a jump-rope going. So, so much fun!

Jacks, 4 square, tv tag, wiffle ball, SPUD, Kickball, hide-and -seek were fav's. We had the biggest yard in the neighborhood so everyone came over to our house to play. I guess out of all of those 4-square was my fav. One potato 2 potato or bubble gum bubble gum in a dish were the usual ways to pick who went first or got to choose things. :jacks:

LOL! I of course know the one potato two potato, but "bubble gum in a dish", I never heard of. Do you remember how it went? We also sang the EENIE-MEENIE, ITSA KEENIE to choose. Did anyone else ever do that one?
EENIE-MEENIE, ITSA KEENIE
OOHGA Gagoleenie
Otsee Potsee
Googalochee
Oot goes Y-O-U
and you are not it!
or how about this one where you'd put in your fists instead of your feet?
Ink-A-Dink , a bottle of ink
The cork fell out, and you stink
Not because you're dirty, not because you're clean
But just because you kissed the girl behind the mag-o-zine
whover's fist got "zine", they put one fist behind their back. this went around till someone was left with one, sometimes two fists, and they were IT.

Red Rover, 4 square, hopscotch, tether ball and double dutch rope.
Why was Red Rover banned?Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Mine was four square. That was my favorite.
The children here at recess still play hopscotch, foursquare, jump rope, tag, teetherball, clapping games
The older elementary children play kick ball and hoave kick ball tournaments.
Red rover isn't played at school (banned) and dodgeball a version of it are played in PE.
The elementary children have two recesses a day at my daughter's school and PE daily.
That changes in middle school ( 7th and up) no recess and PE is ever other day but for a longer time.
The one game I have found that most children here (including my children ) had not heard of was Jacks.

BASEBALL!
We lived right next to a huge open field and we almost had our own team.
We are a family of 3 boys and 3 girls, and my 2 best friends lived accross the field. We played everyday it seemed and we all helped keep the field mowed so we could play. Besides, if we stayed in the house, my parents kicked us out and told us to go get some fresh air.

Super Mario Brothers (original) and if I was lucky enough to have a play mate Monopoly was awesome!
When I was at my Granny's with the other 18 grandchildren freeze tag and hid and go seek was a favorite.
And of course anything that involved playing with the dog also known as my shadow.

Jump rope, tether ball (had to get one of those for my kids), dodge ball, lemon twist (they still have a similar thing that I got for the kids and they love playing)

Growing we played lots of different games. But what I always thought was fun was having someone hold on to your hand and foot and swing you around like a helicopter. We always had a fun time spinning around and screaming.
