How can I get
a newspaper company to call and harrass me?
The reason I ask is that I've looked online at the price for just a Sunday paper for Tampa Tribune and it's only a penny cheaper than getting it from a vending machine. The St. Pete Times is .20 cents cheaper than venching machine price (at .80 on Sunday) but when we first moved here, someone from the company called and offered me a year long subscription for just Sunday at .50 an issue. I'd love to get the Tampa one too, it seems to have a few more coupons than the one I currently get, and the Publix here offers so many BOGO deals that I could really get my money's worth out of the duplicates. Any suggestions?

Just call them and ask them if they offer a Sunday only option? The newspapers around my area offer a weekend option where you are getting the Saturday and Sunday's editions.

Do you think they would offer me the paper cheaper than what I've already found online? It just seems like whenever my parents would let their subscription run out, someone would be on the phone talking them into keeping it for a discounted price. I guess I'm being a cheapskate LOL.

No advice but wish you luck. I can't stand those guys at the supermarket. They are like buzzards.

Just call the office and ask them what their lowest rate is. If it is too high, then politely say no thanks, I am going to go with the other newspaper as their rates are cheaper.

I agree- just call and ask for the best deal. Our local newspaper stopped offering Sunday-only subscriptions (it changed to Fri, Sat, Sun for more$). I politely called and cancelled explaining that I want Sun only. Eventually they called me and offered a Sun only 13 wk deal for $19.50. Each time I get a new bill, the price goes up. The current bill is $29.25- more than the newsstand. I called this morning and cancelled. We'll see if they call me and offer me another $19.50 deal.

I am amazed at the price of a newspaper. We can get the Sunday only here as well but I don't. I read it online. My mom, however, gets the Sunday paper and is more than willing to share coupons.
Maybe you can find someone to go halves with the cost....just a thought

When you find out, please let me know! I am tired of having to try to get someone at a red light to give me one. It is dangerous!! I don't trust machines because sometimes they steal the change and won't open. I didn't know that Tampa Tribune had more coupons than SP Times. Are they different coupons, or the same and then some extras? I may have to start getting 2 lol.

They seem to be the same inserts, but for example, the Red Plum insert was substantially thicker the time I got both the Tampa and St. Pete paper. To be honest, though, I only did this one time. So don't quote me!
From what others have told me, the "bigger" the paper, the more coupons it usually has. I'm guessing that Tampa is the bigger paper in this instance. I am definitely going to be getting a Tampa paper this weekend in addition to my delivered St. Pete, as all three of the bigger inserts (RP, P&G, SS) are being printed for this weekend.

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely get one of each this time to see what I get.

druthb00- I tried to pm you but I haven't posted enough lol! And here I thought I was just a regular chatterbox.
Anyway, I was going to pm you about the cold. Oh my goodness, it is awful. I sure hope it warms up and soon! I never thought the winter would last this long in Florida.

You are lucky! Ours is $2 at the machine and $1.70 for delivery. But, if you subscribe and then cancel, they might try to get you back with a deal.

Yes I think it's a new thing, to prevent spam. I just moved here from Indiana a little over a month ago, this is really really warm for me LOL. I'm sure I'll change that opinion by next year, though. We almost had to turn the heat on, holding out so far, the coldest it's been inside is 66. I'm not sure I can handle it much colder.
