Major disaster
We have had a mojor disaster today. Somehow at least one wire and possible more have been completely severed knocking out all our power to all the rooms in our basement. The only thing working downstairs right now is the outlet for our fish tank and the outlets for the washer and dryer. I called our electrician and he came right over and is not really sure what or where the problem is because it is on two completely different circuts. He is coming back in the morning to fix it. I just can't imagine how much this is going to cost us. If its not one thing its another. darn it. We just can't seem to get ahead.

That is sooooo scary - glad no one was hurt!! No idea how it happened? Praying it will not be crazy costly!!

How could that happen? Sounds weird. I'm glad for the fishies' sake that they still have power to breathe, have clean water, and stay warm!
It does sound expensive. Let us know how it turns out.Donna

I'm sorry - this is a problem, yes - but it is not a disaster.
Our friends, in 2008 around Christmas, they headed out to see her family in WV. Christmas Eve, his dad checked their house - no problem. They got home 3 days after Christmas to find that a pipe (which was brilliantly located in the attic) had burst. The entire house was flooded (sat on a slab). Entirely unlivable. Every floor destroyed - furniture destroyed - entire back of the house had to be gutted - all drywall up to 3' from the floor had to be gutted - entire kitchen destroyed - they lived out of a hotel for 7 months.
THAT'S a disaster.
You? You've had a murphy attack.
Count your lucky stars.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Awesome news!!!! The electrician came back this morning and somehow a piece of the metal box that holds the light broke off and shorted out the wires in that box. Removed the metal piece and it is fixed. We also had him install a switch for that light so we don't have to use the string to turn it on and we also had him repair an outlet in our bedroom that was broken. Total damage money wise: $135. We are so glad that it wasn't something more expensive like severed wires.
