MP3 player question
We got my son an MP3 player for Christmas because, well, we couldn't afford an ipod. We are having such a hard time downloading music! Pretty much the only songs he has on it (26) at this point are from CDs that we had around - which are not exactly popular today LOL. We can't seem to find a site that works well for us to download music. I am hesitant about giving out my credit card to a site with a monthly fee, as ds can hardly afford that fee and I won't pay it. So what do y'all use? Where do you find music downloads that are not from itunes? Thanks!

There is Amazon.com. Also beemp3.com which is free, but sometimes the links don't work.

I tunes is good because if you get an ipod later, you will have both ipod format songs as well as mp3. If you go through itunes, you have to convert the itune downloads into mp3 format. It isn't that hard, though. I prefer not going through them though. Just one extra thing to do.

does your DS have his own CD collection? if so i downloaded a freeware program (very safe and free) from the net and it will convert CD's into MP3's ready to go on a player, i use it all the time as i still like to buy CD's and dont see the point it buying the disc then paying for a download.

I've been using Amazon.com for my mp3 downloads for a couple of years now. They are very reliable! My kids use itunes because they have ipods and I can also put whatever they download there onto my mp3 player by burning it onto a cd, then putting that cd onto my computer's media player, then onto my mp3 player.

Amazon.com has a lot of free music, and a lot of songs you can buy for .99 or thereabouts. They are a safe site to give your CC information to.
