Winter snow storm NY style
http://imageevent.com/ladytoysdream/...?rotp=6082&n=0
All the pictures can be enlarged.
This is a picture album of our recent snow storm.
Kept schools closed for 2 days. First snow days used this winter so far for our schools. First really big MAJOR storm this winter.
We been getting nickeled and dimed for snow till the last few days.
Snow plows getting stuck. Three different plows for other town highways got rolled on their sides. All kinds of accidents.
Started wednesday night, then they had to plow 16 hrs plus yesterday, then a few more hours OT today to play catchup. The sun finally came out at noon and the roads are looking a lot better already.
They had said 12 to 16 inches for our area.
I figure we got 24 inches, because of higher elevation.
We got all kinds of snow banks out in our yard. The hubby had to put the blower on his tractor to move this wet stuff. He had been using just the plow blade all winter up till today.
I'm getting real good at hibernating
The chickens are cursing because they had to stay in the coop today. They could not go out into their tarped run. Somebody needs to move a 2 ft snow drift to open up the other door.--------My signature--------
The economy is now uncharted waters... grab a oar and start rowing. ~~
Put the frog in pot, turn up the heat real slow, and the frog doesn't hop out. And by the time he realizes, he should , it's too late... think about it.

Looks like I'm looking out my window here in Jersey! I feel your snow pain!
I keep giggling at the nonsense names the media has made for the storm: Snowmaggedon, Snowzilla, Snowicane, etc.
Ridiculous!

I just added 3 more pics after hubby got done snowblowing.
I like the few inches at a time, better than this mess.
Chickens are now shoveled out. And playing in their yard.--------My signature--------

I'm also in central ny and we had more snow in our driveway than we've had in years. The grandkids got the day off from school and were dropped off at my house. Our neighbors were kind enough to snowblow our driveway and we got together and talked outside like it was a summer day.
The kids and I played in the snow for a couple hours then I took a little nap while they watched tv in the afternoon. I'd forgotten how tiring it is to be in the cold fresh air. I also enjoyed the sunshine we got after the storm. It was a good day for me and I'm ready for spring.....Fling 2010 in 2010 1120/2010

Wow, those are amazing pictures, I don't think the UK could cope with that amount of snow, (as a nation) we would freak out!
We did have snow like that back in 1946-47 (three long months of snow I think!!) and 1962-3
We only have gas reserves ( heating gas) for 8 days and of course demand increases when it's cold and snowy, so with the snow we had last month we had a huge surge and there were mumblings in the media that we might run out of ( heating) gas!
How do you guys entertain yourselves when you are stuck indoors for a week or more?
My elderly parents go bonkers if they can't get out of their apartment for more than 3 days ( due to ice and snow), me I am quite happy to hibernate, my record for staying home ( out of choice, when the weather is not a factor) is 11 straight days!!!!! but I suspect I might be borderline agorophobic.

Thankfully most of that missed us completely. But we did get 6 inches of very wet snow/slush/rain that was a PITA to move. Under 4 inches of snow was 2 inches of water/slush. Yuck!
It's almost spring though...tomorrow is March and today it was 40F!!
