I'm going to say it again....
I LOVE Publix. Hands down, most friendly and helpful grocery store employee's. Case in point: I was there yesterday, and because I'm still kind of learning my way around St. Pete (and probably relying way too heavily on my GPS) it seems like I always end up at a different Publix. So I still haven't come to terms with where everything is in the store, because they are layed out in a simliar way, but not identically.... So every time I go in, I usually end up backtracking to certain isles a time or two, to find everything. Well yesterday, BF was pushing the cart and I was walking around with my neck craned upwards reading the isle signs saying, "I'm not quite sure where the peanut butter is in this one..." Not a second later, I hear, "Isle 13." So I turn around, and there is a smiling woman looking back at me as she's clearly on her way to return something to it's shelf. I'm seriously impressed. Not only was she busy doing something entirely different, but I wasn't even ASKING her directly. I've never been able to even trap a Wal-Mart or Meijer employee into being closer than 15 feet to me, before darting down a different isle. That being said, I used to shop at Kroger back in Indiana. The employee's were friendly enough, but few and far between. At Publix, I have every stockboy/girl and their brother asking me if I need help finding something. Heck, I had the butcher walking me down the frozen food isle to find the Johnsonville Bratwurst (new concept to me, in Kroger they were in a refridgerated bin.) I'm not quite sure how they manage this, but I know it isn't a fluke because as I said before, I'm in a different Publix every shopping trip. They must be doing something other stores aren't to keep their workers happy. I tell you what, though, they've got a lifetime shopper here.

Our Kroger is like that. There are employees all over the store and they know where everything is. Just ask where something is and they will stop what they are doing and tell you or walk with you to the aisle.

Have you checked out SoutherSavers website? If not, give it a look over. They have sections that are store specific, match up weekly sales with coupons, coupon links, etc...
I agree, I love Publix. Overall, their employees are more helpful and they are very coupon friendly.DD (19)

Totally agree...Pubix is #1 any way you cut it. Helpful in every aspect. Never had a problem with coupons either.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I love Safeway. Their employees are the best. I personally have never had a problem.
A lot of people complain they are expensive. I shop at Safeway for their loss leaders and sale items. I do not shop week to week. I only replenish my stock so price is not a big issue for me.
I wish I had an Aldi's or a Winco near me. I love both of those stores. My sister can shop at Aildi's, she lives near Baltimore. My father can shop at Winco, he lives in Oregon. I live in a rural area, not many choices.Carrie, ravenmaniac - I love my Ravens!!!!

I bet that Publix not only puts emphasis on employee satisfaction but that customer retention = repeat customers and have built their business model on that fact alone...esp since the market nosedived.
Glad you're having great experiences at Publix...the few times I've been it's been both - great and poor service.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

It does help when people are more than willing to help you out. Many times I need to ask someone for help to reach an item way out of reach for me.
Lately I have noticed that some people stocking shelves are not store employees. The only reason I know is because they tell me they do not work for the store when I ask them to reach something for me.

My uncle works for Nabisco. He is an account manager and one of his jobs is to keep his shelves at the various stores stocked, neat and organized. Whether it is Publix, Winn-Dixie, etc...Either he or the employee under him maintain their items a couple of times a week. The rest of the time the store employees maintain the items. Also, the same is true for manufactures of Keebler, some of the soft drinks, beers, wines, chips and bread. At least that's how they do it in our neck of the woods.
I use to stock at the commissary, DH still does. The majority of the people stocking at our commissary are independent contractors, not employees of the commissary.DD (19)
