    Default Hello Folks..

    Hellloo.. I'm Nick, 27, new from NY (LI).. Just sayin hello..

    G/f and I just broke up, and I moved out after 4.5 years of living together. I'll be living frugally to pay some stuff off while I find somewhere new to live. Hoping to pick up some tips and advice from here while I do so.

    I have about 8,000 in debt, I should have it paid off in 3 or 4 months. Looking forward to it.

    hi! the frugal tip thread, about a gazillion pages, is the best place to start. i found the threads by canadian gardener the most helpful when i got started.

    the first thing i did was reduce phantom load, which brought an immediate savings of 100 a month to this household.
    11% gross to retirement
    10% takehome to tithe and offerings
    emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
    freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

    i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
