My Picky Eater Might be Coming Around
My 16yo son has been a very picky eater the past few months and cooking for him has driven me about nuts. We lost half our income last year so I've been on a frugal binge and doing alot more cooking and baking HM.
Pizza has been the hardest for ds to give up but I finally convinced him to TRY the Boboli ready-made pizza crust and have semi-homemade pizza's tonight. He liked it but complained about the crust not being thick enough. So...
me "I can make the crust next time and you can choose how thick you want it"
ds "what, like bread dough?"
me "no, pizza dough. I can make pizza dough"
ds "oh, okay. I think that would be best"
I am rolling my eyes and doing a happy dance at the same time. As long as he thinks it's HIS idea

That's good news.
I was thinking he should get a job at a pizza store!

All three of my kids are picky eaters, unfortunately. The youngest was a really good eater until the last few months. He's become more like his older brothers since then and seems to be scared of veggies and such.

Ah, the curse of picky eating. We have that here too. My youngest ds7 has all kinds of eating issues. He favors carbs, fruits and some dairy. He avoids most veggies and meat. We are trying to introduce some meat back into his diet. Last night I made him green eggs and ham!!! He ate most of it, but said some of the ham pieces were too hard.....its a texture thing.

My four year old is VERY picky. But he is coming around. I don't make him special meals, unless it's something spicy--like chili or schezuan stir-fry.
I just roll with it and give him a mandatory amount of bites he has to try--which I'm sure would be harder to enforce with a 16 year old, lol. Wesley's newest thing is dipping everything into honey. Even meat. Whatever--he's eating right?
Congrats! Have him help cook--maybe he'll start wanting to enjoy the fruits of his labor.McD
