Do you consider yourself an EXPERT?
Everybody is an expert at something...right? I just thought it was fun to see what everybody here considered themselves experts at...besides frugality

I would consider myself an expert at Coaching, Teaching & Athletics.
What about you?

No, I don't. I can always learn more and there is always someone better at the thing I'm best at.

I'm referred to as the "Mac Expert" and "Dog expert" and "Googling Queen" and most recently, "Hedgehog expert" by my peers at work.
It makes me smile but I think I'm just passionate about those things, not an expert. When I'm passionate about something I read, read, read everything about it. A lot of my reading nowadays is online, hence the Googling skills, hahahaa!
Great topic, I look forward to reading other responses.LDR

I would not say I'm an expert, but I can throw a pretty mean party & I'm a good home decorator. In fact I've been given lots jobs for those very things just by word of mouth, quite profitable if you're good at them. I no longer do it unless it's a favor to someone and then I do not charge.

Funny you said that about being passionate. I have always been that way about budgeting. I have often told my dh I would teach people for free. I also read everything I can get my hands on about saving money. Thats why I came to this site, to learn more.

Since I'm always in the learning mode - I think the only thing that I'm really good at (don't know if that qualifies me as an expert) - is really listening to what other people are saying. I figured that out in my teens when everyone seemed to be given a gift and I searched really hard to discover mine. Once I figured that out I really helped my self estemm.

Well the 1st thing that popped in my head was my Italian cooking. I've had people willing to pay me for a jar of my sauce, and have always been encouraged to start a business in the food industry. I never really wanted to because truthfully, I make my Italian dishes with love for my family,
,and the women behind the recipes that are in mind while making them. Somehow, I doubt I could duplicate the taste doing it for money.
Home decorating is another thing that I've been told I am "gifted" with. People tell me I have a "good eye" for it, and I do get asked to help alot.
And shopping. Since I was about 13 or 14 I was asked to shop for other people. Me and my BF would go Down-Town Brookln, or Lower Manhattan where all the bargains were, and I had a "way" for finding things for people, whether clothes or curtains, etc.
It was so much fun meeting that challenge. I miss doing that alot!
I guess it was always the FUN I have and had doing those things that make me a so called "expert" at them.
Fun Topic JeniBelle! I enjoyed reading all the replies.

....and as usual i talked too much!! LOL! guess i'm an expert at that too!

I'm an expert at procrastination. I have years and years of experience. I'll tell you about it later. Maybe.
Seriously, I agree with what krbshappy said. I wouldn't really call myself an expert, but things I love, I read and read about, and so in those areas I probably do know more than the random person on the street.
When I was writing my dissertation on science fiction, I was definitely the expert on aliens among my graduate student peers.Donna
