    Talking Hit the jackpot...........

Decided to get out of the house for a while by myself today. Went to the big town to Walmart to get some fresh produce. I was just strolling around, enjoying being able to look without dh or the kids bugging me LOL. I went down the party supply aisle to see what decorations they might have for a graduation party and found graduation party invites and thank you cards on clearance for 2.00 a box, 25 in each box!! Whoo hoo!

I also found a place in town to have the party. I can rent a really nice space for 25.00! Lots of parking, a kitchen I can use, etc. Now to decided on what to serve. We are having it at 1:00 so I want to offer nice food, but would love to be able to enjoy the party without having to do alot of cooking/prep work while there.

Then I stopped at our little store for their Friday specials. Got a turkey breast for 1.09 a pound and 5 packs of Kraft sliced cheese for 1.29 a pack! I got some there last week on sale for 1.59 so I am stocked up for a couple of months now.

Also found some new facial cleaner and lotion with spf in the Walmart brand! Just like Aveeno but way cheaper!

great deals. I would recommend serving lasagna because you can prepare it ahead of time in a foil 9X13 pan then just pop it in the oven. It freezes well also.

ENVY<ENVy,envy...................... Congrats. I used to sell eagle scout invites and it was regularly $100. You made out. I made everyone mad and didn't throw a party. I got DD the highest end laptop w/ remote and swivel screen. We have small families and it didn't seem worth it. We also got a nice little Saturn for her and DH to share,so she was ok w/ it.

We won't get enough tickets for all of the family to go to graduation(and dh's family wouldn't go anyway) so I wanted to have a little party for her. Her 18th birthday is two weeks after graduation too so it's kind of a combo party. She has worked so hard in school and will graduate in the top ten of her class. I want to do something special to honor her hard work.

I am thinking of either doing make your own sandwiches or hot dogs. The sandwich thing would be expensive but so easy for me. I can make the macaroni salad the night before, my mom would make potato salad and pick up the cake. The day of all I would have to do is decorate and put the sandwich fixings out on trays.

It's amazing that you got a hall for $25! Woo Hoo! What a deal. Add to it the invites and the thank you cards and your well on your way to a very frugal affair.

Congratulations on your daughter graduation/birthday (as parents that's such a proud milestone) Enjoy the day! Be sure to let us know how the party went.

I did a build your own dog party once. I had crocks filled with hot dogs (they stayed perfect) then crocks filled with saurkraut, chili & cheese sauce. I had bowls of chopped onion, pickles, sweet relish, hot dog relish, pickled sweet peppers & hot sweet peppers, several kinds of mustard and ketchup. I purchased several kinds of rolls and had chips, coleslaw, potato salad & pasta salad. I made gallons of sweet tea for the drink and had a large sheet cake for dessert. It was very economical and once it was set up I didn't have to do anything but enjoy the party. It was a huge hit. The kids and the guys liked it best, you should have seen some of the creations they came up with.

Way to go!! $25 for a place is AWESOME! That's what I was hoping for for my daughter's 1st b-day but DF wouldn't allow it. Try close to $25 per person! I was not a happy camper financially.
