Englishlady,
Thanks for all your posts. I have embarked on a spiritual awakening/path to better myself and get in touch with my higher self. It has been pretty intense and painful at times since my emotions are sooooo intense at times. However, I was able to identify with "the observer" and learn that feelings/emotions are part of my human experience but they are not "me". "I" am the observer behind the experience. When things get really tough I try to embrace my strong emotions and surround them with love. It's not always easy but it gets me through.
Have you had any experiences like that?
Thanks

Hmmmmmmmmm,
Well, to be honest, I know that whilst we are in spirit we choose what we want to achieve in this incarnation, but sometimes I find that frustrating!
Life is a learning process and these days I try and accept the hand I dealt myself.
It can be difficult accepting that whilst we are inhabiting the earthly body we are weak and flawed and that the choices we make whilst in these earthly bodies shapes our lives, but it is also the reason we are here. Does that make sense?
I am very human in that I am very flawed and although I sometimes don't like myself and my reactions to some things, I also try and cut myself some slack because although I wish I could change some aspects of myself, these flaws are what makes me "me".
Being sensitive it can be hard to accept the reality of wars and natural disasters have a purpose ( from a spirit world perspective).I also have a hard time accepting the way some people treat each other.
Not sure if that answers your questions or even makes sense but it's
the best explanation I can offer right now.

Hi english lady..
i love this stuff but at the same time it scares me..
i have always had a conversation going on in my head..i thought it was my conscious or im just crazy..lol
as a child i dreamt of events that would happen the next day
i knew who was calling or coming by..and my intution on things were right on..
then we had some frigthening things happen at our house but i blame it on hormones and me using the quija board i got for christmas. i used it at a friends house when i was 13-15 years old..and at the end of the night..the back of the board had circles, signatures, faces, and images. once i brought it back home i felt i brought back what ever we encountered...i remember my bedroom door opening..i was laying at the foot of my bed watching that show "wings" on USA it was around 1 am i guess and the door opened..i assumed it was one of my parents and once i waved it slammed the door so hard...then i realized that who ever was there was really tall and wearing a hat..then i spent the evening away and my mom heard all this banging and opened her bedroom door, glanced at mine and it was closed but banging and the door knob was twisting frantically..she turned away and shut her door scared..one time she heard noise coming from my room and thought my sisters and cousin were playing in there, she yelled for them to stop and get out..something slammed against the door and shattered..frosted glass with gold trimming came out..when she opened the door no one was there and we still dont know what broke but occasionally find pieces..other things have happened too...thats why im afraid of opening my self scared of what i might see or what i might get my self into, we threw the quija board out..mom was mad she kept saying its a board game by matel or who ever i dont remembe, its not real.
do you believe in spirit guides
passed lifes?
thanks for the post

I would never have anything to do with an Ouija board. That is literally "inviting" trouble.
English Lady,
I replied to your message on your other thread.

OK I wondered when/if this would crop up.
Ouja boards get Spiritualism/afterlife studies a really bad rep and with good reason.
To explain the different kinds of spirit levels of development in the afterlife would take too long here, but there are many books on the subject.
However, to be concise I will give you my take on why Ouja boards are not a good thing and should not be used by joe public.
The spirits that respond to this are akin to the (self made) bums on skid row.
They have nothing better to do than cause trouble, get in the way of others and generally like to stir things up for their own entertainment.
Often the people using Ouja boards are young and their Psychic energy ( like their hormones!) is at it's peak,
Negative Psychic energy ( skid row spirits) and immature earth energy creates little pockets of energy that stir things up and almost always in a scary ( but not life threatening) way.
Yes, I have used one when I was about 13 or 14 and yes stuff happend ( can't remember a great deal about it to be honest).
But I was just like every other kid then ( except) I "knew" stuff and was good at predicting stuff, it was my own "untrained" energy.
In the spirit world education is very big and the easiest way to explain why you have nothing to fear is that any person who passed over and doesn't want to "grow" spiritually is left alone until they are ready......in their own time.
Spirit elders ( very highly evolved) reach out to them and it is up to them if they want to progress.
Those who inhabit the very lowest levels ( by choice) tend to be the ones that are attracted by Ouja boards.
It's a bit like having a party that atracts all the local drunks and nutters and not having anyone to guard the door.
This is not always the case, it can be used to good effect in the right hands. But I think no one really needs to use one.
Personally, I would NEVER use one.
The stronger the connection with a loved one in spirit the less ambiguous the message will be, because they KNOW how your mind works, they will work with you so that you instinctively KNOW in your heart what they are trying to tell you, if you "don't get it" they will draw your attention to a passage in a book or come to you in your dreams.
Spirits evolve and the higher up they progress the more adept they are at getting the message across to those of us on earth.
So if you are commmunicating with a spirit guide rather than a relative, then the chances are you will either know right away what you are being told or it will "come to you" maybe over breakfast or when you are doing a mindless task.............almost a eureka moment!
PLEASE DO NOT EVER USE OUJA BOARDS!
Do I believe in passed lives YES! wish I didn't because as far as I can see none of us seem to "get" what we are supposed to learn and the more violence and hate I see, the more convinced I am that maybe humanity is a lost cause LOL!
Spirit Guides? yes! see above
A connection through love is never a bad connection.

The same way that you would talk to a loved one.
Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed unhook the phone and then try and empty your mind of mundane things.........
imagine you are on a beach listening to the waves, or sitting atop of a mountain with the cool breeze blowing through your hair, what ever scenario would make you most relaxed.
Just concentrate on breathing gently in and out until you feel slightly drowsy................
You need to just talk to spirit in your mind and just ask them to help and guide you in your quest.
Basically you are just having a conversation in your head.
Be open to impressions you get, you might get the idea that "you are talking to yourself" and that can happen but you will "know" when it's spirit because you will "feel"it.
Everyone finds their own way of recognising that their link has been established, mine is that I get a blanket of colour ( always the same colour swirling around and I know I am then talking with spirit).
If I am talking with spirit about another person I get a chill/ the hair on the back of my neck stands up! not unpleasant and it is a quick way of knowing that the link is there.
Every one is different but often the shiver/intial chill is there. ( It's just the energy).
A spirit guide is just a wonderful kind soul on the other side who is willing to help and guide us on our spiritual quest.
I cringe when people talk about their spirit guide the Indian chief or some such thing. to me it trivializes things, that's just my opinion and yes there ARE spirit guides who are(well were on earth) Indian chief's but, the more "normal" things are in your dealings with spirit the more natural it is...........does that make sense?
Basically you just need to open your heart and mind and notice when they might be around you and then just see what unfolds.
There are no rituals to it, they can talk to you anytime, but you first need to be aware of when you are actually communicating with them and not just wishful thinking, hence the "meditation" to start with.
Hope that helps?

Thanks for all of this info, Englishlady. I have been wishing I could connect with a grandmother who died 28 years ago, when I was a young newlywed and had moved away, when she became sick.
I was her first grandchild, and felt close to her (neither she nor I were very demonstrative people)....but now that I am middle-aged, I feel we have had some similar painful circumstances and I could use her guidance. I soooo wish I could feel her with me!
I try to remain open to her spirit and guidance (or a spirit guide even!), but I'm not sure I'm perceptive enough.______

This has been an interesting thread. I've always considered myself very intuitive, but have never even considered it something relating to being psychic. But, I have learned never to go against my gut feelings. For example, when my dad died in February, I knew when it was going to happen. After staying with him throughout the day, I'd told my family I needed to stay with Dad until 8pm even though they needed to leave, and he died at 7:45pm. I was glad I was there and stayed.
"Hunches" like that are the norm for me, and I've never really thought anything of it. I just figured we're all that way!
My friends always have me drive when we're away to conventions in cities we are unfamiliar, I always know where to go without a map, even if I'd never been there.
I've had encounters with what I thought were spirits of some kind as a child at our local library, and later on a highway stretch in central Nebraska. I heard of ghost stories years later that matched my experiences.
I don't tend to share these experiences with my family and friends, but my husband and kids know to always follow my "hunches".

Can someone on the other side help?
My father and fatherin law are both on the other side.
Sometimes when I need something - like in a store
it's just there, I feel like I'm getting help.
I don't experience anything in the house but I do outside.

They can of course help, even in what seem "mundane" ways, things like finding lost items or things you needed.
They can't live life for you or interfere in things where it's important that you must make your own decision(s), but other than that they seem to be very happy to help in little but useful ways

Thanks for such a quick response - I never feel the big revelation but it's comforting to know I have help on my side.
I always say thank you (in my head) when these little good acts happen.
Thank you for acknowledging that the other side can help us out in little ways- my husband doesn't believe me
