Default Contact with the Spirit world

It seems that lot's of people have had "interesting" experiences with "Spirit" in one way or another so I thought I would try and explain a few things in the hope that people would be less scared and reassured that they can't hurt you.

My background? I have " seen things" since I was 5 years old and had some interesting experiences during my school years.
In my early 20's I sat in a "Development Circle" and tuned in to my gift.

Went on to do services at Spiritualist Churches and did private readings, most of the proceeds were donated to my favourite animal charities.
I have done readings from letters all the way accross the pond!

Don't do it anymore as people expect to be told how to live their lives and that isn't what it's all about.
To me it is about proof of life after death.
We can give suggestions about things and point out things that might need attention ( health, other family members etc.).
The following is my opinion based on many years of personal experience and study:

There is a lot of hoo ha on tv about hauntings and such like and I think this gives the whole subject the wrong focus.

"Hauntings" in general non-personal hauntings ( ie activity that is not connected to you) are just left over "energy".
If people meet a sudden/violent/unexpected death, then sometimes energy can get "stuck".
This is the "haunted house" type scenario.

    Strange happenings:
Things that move/items found in strange places/inexplicable stuff:
These are the ways that our loved ones try to attract our attention.

    Why would they do that?
Because they are worried about you/your health/ your reaction to things that are going on in your world.

What can I do about it?
    You can talk to them.

    How do I do that?

Get yourself a comfortable place to sit, where you won't be disturbed.
Try and clear your mind of everyday worries, it helps to imagine yourself somewhere nice like a beach, or a mountain anyplace you like that makes you feel good.

When you are relaxed then start the dialogue.
    Do I talk out loud?
No! you can do it in your head.

How do I know it's not my imagination?

Because when spirit are "talking" to you the dialogue will come to you faster than you could make it up! ( if that makes sense?)
Plus you may find you shiver/the hair stand up on the back of the neck, it's just a brief thing and to me it means I am "connected" .
Sometimes relatives will move photo's or knick knacks almost as a way of confirming that they are around you.
(They won't do this whilst you are looking of course, they know it would scare you.

People who have passed on to the spirit world do not change personality and would/will talk to you in the same way that they would have done whilst here.

They still have a sense of humour up there and I have had some pretty strange and funny experiences over the years that proves this ( too long to mention in this post lol!)

If you are too freaked out by any strange experiences to do any of the above, then just "ask" them to come to you in your sleep, they can often give you answers to questions and problems in dream form, which is more palatable to some people.

I don't profess to know everything but if anyone has any questions I will try and answer them.

I'm so glad you posted on this topic. My Aunt is psychic. She has dreams and "feelings" of things that will happen. My father believed in the spirit world and his sisters sensitivity so much that when he recognized it in me he tried to dampen it in me. He was afraid and just didn't want me experimenting.
I am a very sensitve person , I don't think I am psychic. I think I was as a child and teen. I can feel other peoples emotions very strongly - often taking on their feelings myself.
So, to make a long story short, I believe.

I also am able to sense emotions. Some people are harder for me to "feel" than others. I can also feel things before they happen. I try not to tell too many people about it though, and I don't tell them before things happen because I don't want to freak them out! I can't tell a date or anything, just get a strange feeling. I can't explain it. It is like a nagging feeling of something about to happen.

I was riding with a friend once, and I told her to switch lanes and slow down because some furniture was going to fall off of a truck in front of us, and she did. It fell off and would have caused an accident if she hadn't slowed down. She was freaked out in a good way about my warning!

I have sensed visitors before they come over. A kind police officer showed up at my inlaws, right behind me looking for a blue corvet. I had a feeling I would see him again. A couple weeks later he answered my call about a noise disturbance. For some reason, I had a feeling he would be back. Several weeks passed, and I got a knock on my door one evening, clear out of the blue and I knew it was him before I opened the door. When I peeked out the curtain I almost fell over. I just had a weird feeling he would come back here to talk to me again. He never said that he was going to come back or anything, and I have talked to many cops about the same issue. He is the only one who came back to let me know he was trying to help me with the noise problem.

I think certain people just have connections between them, I am not sure exactly why. I have many "soul mate" friends.

I have been able to sense pregnancy, and things about unborn babies of people close to me, and also death. I don't like to talk about the death though. It is scary and morbid. The deaths I have sensed have mostly been very unexpected and tragic.

    A couple other things:
My great-grandma had a best friend who wore lilac perfume. Great-grammy was working in her kitchen when her house became permeated with the smell of her friend's perfume. She found out later that her friend had died that day.

My grandma had a stroke last week. A couple days before, I had been thinking I need to call her. I want to ask her the names of her biological grandmother and grandfather. Great-grammy was adopted, and only my grandma knows the names of her biological parents. Grammy's mind is slipping and I need to ask her while she remembers. Well, I just got off the phone with my mom to clarify the story of great-grammy's friend, and she told me something freaky. A couple days before grammy had her stroke, my sister AND my mom were watching a show on geneology and were both thinking of calling grammy to ask her about her biological grandparents' names!! My sister lives in Vermont and my mom lives in Florida. They didn't find out about having both been watching the same show until they talked about grammy having the stroke! My mom just mentioned to me about her and my sister, never thinking I may have been thinking the same thing they were thinking about! I didn't watch the show on geneology though. It has been something I have just been thinking about lately.

Thank you for this English Lady. I've been blessed with visits from my grandmother in my dreams since her passing eight years ago.

I've noticed she comes to me more often and more vividly since I became pregnant (she came to tell me I was pregnant initially). She also assures me frequently that its a girl (we will wait to find out).

Last week I had some scary pre natal tests and my aunt millie came to tell me she didn't want me to worry. I was happy to see millie but I asked her if she came with my grandmother. She said she did, but nana had to go see my sister and millie didn't want me to have to wait.

In the morning, I learned my sister had emergency surgery overnight.

I love my dream visits and knowing they are watching over my baby to be has been a great comfort.

Thank you for this post, English Lady.
I believe in spirit(s), but I seldom ask questions.

Years ago, my son escaped from a terrible accident (he fell from 2nd story window, no cut, just a bruise on his thigh), when I was alone later, I asked a question (to no one in particular) 'who saved my son', all of a sudden, I smell my aunt's favourite perfume. She passed away 2 years already at that time. I thanked her in my heart, even though it was a little scary, I felt so blessed at the same time.

In my 36 years I have lost four people, my paternal grandmother in 1989, a boyfriend in 1988, my uncle in 2007 and my paternal grandfather this past February 20th.

I have only had one dream about each of these individuals since their deaths. A few weeks after my grandmother died, I dreamed she walked down a set of stairs made from clouds, gave me a hug and then went back up the stairs. After my uncle died, I dreamed he walked over to me, gave me a hug and walked away. When my boyfriend died, I dreamed he was gathering rocks by the river, walked to me, gave me a hug and went back to gathering rocks. Last weekend I dreamed I was in the lawyer's office going over my grandfather's estate when he walked in, hugged me and then walked out. Never have any of them said a word in my dreams, just hugged me and left.

I spoke to my boyfriend's mom a few days after my dream about him. She told me she had had a very similar dream. She dreamed she was at the river, looking at a house to buy when she saw her son. She asked him what he was doing and he old her he was gathering stones to make her a pathway from the house to the river bank. A year later she bought a home on the river and it had a stone pathway leading from the back porch to the river.

I just told DH Sunday that I was thankful that I had the dream and had gotten my hug from Pappy (my grandfather). Each dream, whether there is anything to them or not, has brought me a sense of peace, like they were each telling me everything would be OK and they loved me.

What defines a person as psychic instead of having intuition? Just curious.

You know I have never heard of her!

I don't watch or keep up with celebrity/tv psychics as most make me cringe.

These days I am more interested in helping people understand that this is not the only reality and that the flesh may go but the spirit ( the essence of self) is forever.

Don't get me wrong I have seen some of these tv types in the past but anywhere you get people who do anything out of the ordinary you may well find big ego's and that's sad, especially as this is really a gift from God.

I have of course had "readings" myself over the years from various people and the best ones are people who have other things in their lives ( a regular job) and do this for not much money and little old ladies who have been doing this quietly for many years.

You would only hear about these by word of mouth and may have to wait a long time to see them.

Well, I am of the opinion that intuition is the acceptable face of psychic

Those with the gift who make a good living out of readings may disagree!

We are all able to tune in/feel/sense things that are other wise inexplicable, but we live in such a material/money/stuff-centric world that often these senses & skills are buried/forgotton.

That's why I think we often get our best "insights" when we are doing mindless tasks in my case the ironing
