It is spring. The dog could be in heat and thats why she was out. Also know though that mounting is domination. My beagle he will head for cats, our female dogs that havbeen spayed for 10 years, furniture. He's not particular. Your dog may be just stating the facts to her.
Also gotta say,I wish I could find a vet like that. The exam fee is more than that.

She might be coming into heat. Look at her vulva, if it's large or looks largish, she could be entering the heat cycle. The heat cycle is rather long and she could be post, or pre estrus.

Here's info on a heat cycle

Mounting could also be a dominance behavior.

Good luck at your vet appointment.

haha! that made me laugh out loud

I have a cocker spaniel who I love to death. They are the best dogs. Loyal to a fault and very affectionate. you should know that they are extremely sensitive so when you discipline her be kind. All I have to do is say my dog's name in a disappointed voice and she gets upset. If only kids were that easy to discipline!

Sorry if I already posted, but we found out Bella had been wandering for 4 weeks. I spoke to several of the people in the neighborhood.

The local PAWS organization will help w/ the cost of shots, worming and spaying. My cost will be around $50. PAWS will even loan me a pet carrier.

Bella is definately somewhere in the heat cycle....

She is the most calm, sweet affectionate dog I have ever seen. She stays w/me everywhere I go (even the bathroom). She sleeps beside my bed (sometimes in it). I taken her to the bus stop twice to pick up my son afterschool. I am amazed.

My other dog is doing very well w/her. He is nuetered so no danger of puppies. But he is handling the change in the household well. A little dominance going on, but that's to be expected when a newbie arrives on your turf.
