Default Why does the simple things in life seem so hard?

I have been gone awhile, but I still lurk. Every since I posted about my dd's sexual news, I haven't posted. In that dept. things are calming down, but have taken a toll on my almost 26 yrs. marriage. My 17 yr. old son now knows, which means no more whispering around our home. Enough with that. We have been trying to cash flow our 2 DD's college, and still have a son in high school, this has been really hard!!! We have had some more unexpected medical issues with DH, but things are getting better. We are at the point where everything needs to be replaced, bought new furnace, hot water tank, etc. now need new roof, appliances, etc. Still struggling with money, and how to save for these expenses while paying for college. I really need to go back thru the old posts to get remotivated on being frugal. Anyway, I am glad to be back, and visit with old friends with great ideas.

Hugs to you and glad you posted.

Have you had the chance to sit down with your DH and a pad of paper and review your priorities? It might be the new roof comes before the college funds for the DD's. Water damage is very expensive and can have some significant health issues if the roof is leaking. Appliances might need prioritizing too. Furnace or water heater above dryer or dishwasher.

Sometimes just writing it all down and seeing it on one page can make things clearer and more manageable.

Ceashells - good points about prioritizing - goes back to the old - you can do it all, but not all at once!! Mahalo - personally, I can never hear that too often!!

Thanks for all of the support, DD's are in the middle of their college education: DD#1 one and half years left, DD#2 2 years left, and my son is finishing up his junior year of high school, so we can't quit paying for college, that is my No. 1 priority at this point, I think we can manage a new roof by July, it's just gonna be a bit tight. Medical bills, have a few old ones and some new ones, but we are paying them monthly, I need to tighten up the budget, especially groceries, my son is on almost 6'6" now and does eat a lot of food, he will be turning 17 in a couple of weeks, hopefully growing is slowing down. I know I can be much better at money, and so can DH. We have a chat on schedule for tomorrow. I am going thru the old posts getting more ideas. They are really a great motivator.

Any chance you can start thinking about having a garden. Even if it is in pots. Would probably help save on groceries.

HI, Buckeye5 ! (from another buckeye) Good to see you back!

I get you about the 6'6" son, my youngest is 6'6". What they can eat just blows the mind. Mine is out of the house now, tho.

I'm glad your household has quieted down some.

We put in a huge garden, and have our own beef. DDS doesn't eat red meat, figures hahaha. Thanks for all of the replies.
