I think it's great the older kids help out with the younger ones. They will make great moms and dads one day! The girls know how to cook, clean, do laundry, take care of kids of every age, etc. The boys also help out with household chores, have a great role model in their dad and can take care of the little ones. I think it's wonderful.

I am a little jealous of Michelle Duggar. I always wanted alot of kids, my dh not so much. After two difficult pregnancies he said NO MORE! I wouldn't want 19 kids, but I would have loved to have had 6 or 8.

As my oldest is preparing to graduate high school in May I wish I had more kids around. Michelle really loves kids and she will never feel that lonely, no one needs me anymore feeling. As the older ones grow up and move out to lives of their own she will still have babies, toddlers, school age kids, teens and heck even grandbabies to love on!

My grandma was the oldest of 6(she had older half brothers who were grown and married) and from about 8 years old on she was in charge of helping with the little ones. She cooked meals on a wood stove, fed and diapered the babies, did housework and laundry. She loved it and was very close to her siblings until they/she died. She was also an amazing mom, grandma and great-grandma!

I think we were put on this earth to be part of families. If one has a loving family with people who care about you unconditionally then that is all one can ask for.

I have only one thing to say------who are we to judge them. As long as I don't have to support them through welfare they can have as many children as they want to have. It is a free country so that is their decision. Oh, I guess I had more than one thing to say.

(This is just a random website that popped up when doing the search )

It also touches on their sources of income as well.

I thought you might also enjoy seeing how a typical meal at the Duggars' house goes~

I love the fact that they encourage real food and make sure to include vegetables as well as fruit at the meals.
I'm going on a gut feeling here but I would almost guarantee that there is no in-between snacking for most of the family, which I think is awesome too.
Also in none of the episodes, I never see any 'junk' food laying around.
They take the time to cook at every meal and if there are desserts, they are usually homemade.
As for using the 'prepared' lasagnas? I would say that they are a MUCH cheaper alternative than buying all of the ingredients and making them homemade and *alot* less work.

As I mentioned before in an earlier post, I love the Duggars and am always in awe of how well their system works for them.
I'd say Michelle is a very organized person, one would almost have to be, in order to keep things runnings as smoothly as they do.
I, for one, can defiantely learn alot from them.

Now that you mention it, I've never seen junk food laying around either... except maybe during the baby shower they had for Anna (the DIL) and another episode when the little ones were talking about 'finding the Skittles' where they had been hidden from the little ones....LOL.

It seems that Michelle and the older girls are very very organized. Everything that has to do with a special event seems to be sooooo organized... and the girls are just as organized as Michelle. It's nice that Michelle has complimented the girls on that, too, on the show. I would think that organization is imperative with a family that big !!
