Getting things lined up......
It feels like such a busy time for me right now! I was supposed to start back to work Friday but still haven't heard for sure. Last I heard payroll was lagging on approving us and we can't start until they approve us! Knowing my boss he will probably call me on Thursday night telling me to be there on Friday morning. So I've been getting things done up around the house, getting a meal plan going for the weekend, etc. so I'm prepared if I do go back. Got my portable dvd player and some movies packed into my bag and I need to get some snacks and drinks at the store to take with me.
Got dd's prom dress to the woman in town who is going to hem it for us. Need to make her decide what she's doing with her hair so I know whether to make an appointment for her somewhere or not!
The graduation party is coming together nicely. I decided to do what's best for me and the hell with everyone else. My sister will not be invited nor will she receive a graduation announcement. I'm done with her and her drama. I honestly think she may have a mental condition of some sort but I am in no way trained to deal with that and have NO desire to try. My dad's(my adoptive step father, my sister's bio dad) mother and one of my cousins on that side have some of the same issues and behaviors as my sister so I think it may be a genetic thing. My dad also shows some of the same behaviors, just not as bad as the women. I've allowed my sister to disrupt the lives of my family for 16 years and I am done!
I'm going to order fried chicken from Kroger for the party, make a pasta salad, Old Settler Beans, a veggie tray with dip, chips and dips and drinks. Also going to order a cake from Kroger or Walmart. Easy for me and I will use paper plates so there is very little clean up. Got the community center to loan me chairs for free and I bought an extra canopy to use in case of rain. That gives me three canopies and some people can go out on the front porch, some in the house, etc.
Talked to dd and we have decided to re-do her room as part of her present. She picked out a comforter, sheets and throw pillows she likes at Walmart so I'm going to get those along with some new curtains. I'm going to find a wall border that matches and have dh take down the old one and put up a new one one day while she's at school and put all the new stuff in as a surprise. Might also get her a bag for her laptop or some restaurant gift cards to go along with it.
Work will be work this year. I've decided to let the other two employees do their thing and I will do mine and not let them get to me. They are like small children, the more they know they are bugging you, the worse they act. I will simply find something to do outside the office for the three hours we overlap.
Still have alot of little things I want to get done around the house before the big party. We may have overnight company that night so I need to get the guest room cleared out, etc.
Supposed to be sunny and 80 here Friday and Saturday! Whoo hoo!S

There are some people you simply cannot help. You can, however, help how you react to them. Sounds like you've made a good decision.

I agree with the other posters. You sound like you've set your priorities straight, and you rightfully seem satisfied with your plan.
You have so much to look forward to with your dd right now
. You really don't need all the negativity and drama from others to steal the enjoyment of those special times from you
. And btw, I think your dd will flip when you surprise her with her new room!
Great idea!!
Enjoy your party!
Your dd's gonna love you for it!!

What an awesome party plan... I think your DD will love it, and the new room. What a great mom!

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start,
anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

Thanks everyone! It feels good to finally do what I want for a change!
I got the call today that I will be going back to work Monday. I was supposed to go day after tomorrow(Friday) and work Fri, Sat and Sunday from now until the middle of May. But they had some type of snafoo with payroll approval for everyone so they approved me to start Monday. He wants me to come in and work Monday and Tuesday(just for this coming week), then the three day weekend too. Kind of sucks because my kids are on spring break all of next week and dh will be off Monday and Tuesday, then Friday, Saturday and Sunday LOL. Guess we won't be spending any time as a family!
I work in a very small cramped up building and we already had too much store stuff. He told me today that he has ordered tons more stuff and my job Monday and Tuesday is to open the bathhouse up and then find a place to display all that new stuff in my office. And he has MORE coming! UGH! Luckily the two guys will be there(and the boss won't) so I will put them to building me more shelves or whatever I need LOL!
I'm debating the menu for the party again. Dh and I are talking about maybe burgers and dogs instead. Not everyone eats fried chicken so I'm still debating. Got more than a month to worry about it though.
Happy Easter everyone!S
