Default My daughter and I are headed to summer camp.

Well, we decided to bite the bullet and send our gymnast daughter to a weeklong, overnight summer camp. It is normally almost $1000 for the week! BUT we were able to talk the gym into going one of the first weeks so it reduced the price to $745. Then we signed up early in January to get $50 off. Then I applied to be a cabin mom to get a $300 discount and I just found out I am approved! Yay! A fancy, expensive summer camp for just $395. This will not happen every year and would not have happened this year had all of this not worked out so well. I am very excited.

So help me! None of my kids have ever been to an overnight camp except boyscouts. I don't know how it works really. They say put her full name on everything. REally? With what? I don't want to ruin all her clothes by writing her name in them with a permanent marker. Any other options? What can we expect? Other than exhaustion LOL. I am in for it for sure. I got the schedule of my duties and sleep won't be happening much for me. Help! Do I need to start packing now? I don't want to forget anything or mess up somehow. TIA!

Wow! Lucky you! I don't know the first thing about overnight camps, so I'm not much help. I just hope you and your daughter have a fabulous time this summer.

When my son went to camp, I wrote his name with a permanent marker either on the label of the clothes...or on a small piece of masking tape stuck to the inside of the clothing. Sounds like fun!

How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

I believe you can get laundry tags for her clothes that iron in, and you can write on those and then pull them off (or they will eventually wash off).

If there are a lot of kids then stuff will get mixed up, or left in places it shouldn't be, and they need to be able to send it all home with the right kid.

Don't let her take anything expensive or irreplaceable, like jewelery or electronics. You might want to ask about things like i-pods or cell phones, if they allow them or if they recommend you don't take them.

She might want a journal or an inexpensive camera to record her trip.
