Fixing the Foreclosure

Some of you may remember that I purchased a foreclosure last year We closed the end of Decemeber and started working around the second week in Jan. Needed to get permits new meters house didnot have power for over 2 years and inspections It is 2 1/2 months later and I would say we are 80 percent done with what we need to accomplish before we move in. This has been quite the expierence we have done all the work ourselves Dh Ds me and ds #2 and a occasional person who needed work for the day The kitchen was a gut job only thing contracted out was the granite install. We hardwooded the entire house ourselves New heating system as the former owners cut the old one out and took it with them Discovered today that the washing machine that was left doesnt run probably becasue it has no motor they took that too. I estimate that we have invested 20,000.00 so far which is about on target and what we figured. I estimate that we will need and additional 10,000.00 to do all the things I still want to do. It has ben an incredible amount of work and it was much easier to do remodels when we were younger but definitealy worth it. If you are handy if we had to hire all this work out would have been at least double if not triple the cost. My advise if you can get a good property cheap and can do the work yourself go for it I have already been offered more than twice what I paid for the property but I said no way this is my dream home and Im not selling
