Default Fun Free (or Cheap) Frugal Activities

I remember there was a thread a while back where people were listing frugal activities. I can't seem to find it, so I was hoping to start a new one.

I'm just looking for fun free (or cheap) frugal activities to do with a family. Also, if there are good ideas for date nights with your spouse that would be great too.

    Thanks in advance, everybody!

picnic in the park, or on the living room floor if you prefer

swap a movie with friends and watch at home

check the local paper for free activities - around here there are carillon concerts every Sunday afternoon in the park, with a festival in early June every year. . . . various concerts by local Hs bands, community bands, etc. . . . art exhibits. . . and so forth.

Some museums have a free admission day (or evening). Also the zoo, too. Free weekly concerts in the park during the summer may be available in your area as well. Tours to candy factories, breweries, wineries, paper mills, other manufacturing industries near you may also be possibilities.

I live in an eastern suburb of Toronto in Canada, near Lake Ontario and lots of park land.

For people in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is free on Wednesday evenings.

Also, the Toronto Public Library has free family passes for all the local museums, including the Royal Ontario Museum. You pick it up a library branch and are responsible for returning it, I believe. They also have one for the Toronto Zoo.

You can look up your local township or other local townships website. They usually have free or inexpensive events listed for the year.

I always like to refer to these two links:

The Simple Dollar Challenge Yourself To A Money-Free Weekend

    and

The Simple Dollar 100 Things to Do During a Money Free Weekend

They focus on things to do during a "money-free weekend". TONS of good ideas.
