Is spokeo a threat

besides it being FB related, it has a bit to do w/ computer usage...ya know...whats running (that we dont realize) iin the background.

some of it also is from USPS.....believe it or not...my computer dude eluded to that.

Spokeo has been listed on Snopes.com

I looked and it seems very doubtful that even if requested, the information is removed. It does touch more on where all the information is gathered.

There are also pay sites where people can buy information about you. In my opinion, online privacy is little more than an illusion.

zaba search had my ex husband listed several times as living at my address when he's never lived here or anywhere near here.

pretty much sites sells information to other sites
very common - better minimize joining to some sites you're not familiar with

Well I haven't had time to read everyones comments however wanted to add.... may have already been added....they get some of the info also from myspace maybe facebook BECAUSE when I looked up my DH it had the profile pic from his myspace. Most of the info is public record type info and I think home value is the same for ALL OF US Mil+ lol

It does however list my in-laws. It says they live in a middle class neighborhood in a millon dollar home. Middle class neighborhoods have million dollar homes? Really??? I can just imagine them trying to list their home for a million, they'd never get a single person to come look at their property.

That said, it was a relief not to find myself listed, even if the information was messed up.

LOL! It said I live in a 1 million + home in a lower than average neighborhood. Almost all of it was wrong.

Saw this on a friends site:
there's a site called Spokeo.com that's a new online phone book with personal information: everything from pics you've posted on FB or web, etc. You can remove yourself by first searching for yourself on their site to find the URL of your page, then going to the Privacy button on the bottom of page and follow directions
i went and checked and there i was in all my naked info..lol.. i deleted it like above.. dont mind sharing an email addy or an address but nothing else... (now if it said hot and sexy i might have thought about twice)

The first time I looked up my email address there was nothing. However after I removed my listing using that email address I looked again a week or so later and 79 entries popped up including my so called private blog! I know I said this previously but learn from my boo boo and DO NOT USE YOUR REAL EMAIL ADDY TO TAKE THE LISTING OFF

I looked up mine and it said I have a million dollar home without heat or air in a low class neighborhood. It also said that I am a football player, like the outdoors and love to read.

I looked up some ex boyfriends. It said 1 guy was married with children (he's not) and listed his parents as spouse and child. It said another was married to his father and had 3 kids. I'm tempted to look up everyone I know just for the laughs.
