Moving....already :( (long, sorry)
Well, I know some of you read my post from a week or 2 ago about our mold problem. Well, it's just gotten much much worse. So much worse, that my landlord (the owner of my condo unit) is suing the management company/association. The smell in our unit is musty, the moisture level wayyyy too high, and our new neighbor? Let me tell you, I've had my share of wackjobs in my 22 years of existance. First, with a cop stalking me when I was 17 and now this guy. He's gotten so attached in 48 hours that it's VERY scary. He's drunk by 10 AM, so after that being around him is unbearable. He went so far as to plant a slobbery drunken kiss on my cheek yesterday. I about lost it. He's also armed at all times... I'm actually afraid to live here any longer

So yesterday, people came in and went to the unit above mine, which has been going on for weeks now. They've been doing work on that unit for THAT long. So my neighbor convinced me that we would go upstairs and see what was going on. I'm SO glad we did. He barged his way in when the guy working there opened the door...something I couldn't have done. He then went straight to the bathroom and called me in. The tile on the shower wall is in the process of being ripped out, and behind it? Loads of black mold...all through the wall. We are SO OUT OF HERE.
I went to take a look at a nice place on the bayou between St. Pete's pennisula, and the island chain that separates us from the Gulf of Mexico. It's AWESOME. I went through each unit the woman showed me, looking for signs of crappy remodeling and/or construction. I came up with nothing. The tile on their shower walls was actually grouted CORRECTLY, unlike ours, which I think is how this mold problem probably started upstairs. It's supposed to be apoxy based and expandable. The crap they used on ours is the same you use on the floor; sanded. It won't keep water from going behind the tile. Gee, I wonder how mold got in that wall upstairs....
For how pretty I thought this place was, it's all an illusion. I've found it increasingly interesting that with how it looks on the outside (and even the inside LOOKS nice), that no one who works here actually lives here. Why not? It's waterfront, has views of the bay and bayou. It has 3 pools, 2 fitness centers, clubhouses with pool tables and even a private restaurant. Well, now I know why they don't live here. It's essentially a (sorry) hell hole.
So now we'll be quickly moving our things in the next 2 days, with the help of BF's boss and his son. I made sure BF explained that we really would not have asked for, or needed help, if it weren't for our psychopath neighbor moving in. So what we really are looking for while we're moving our things, is bodies. I'll feel a lot better if they are here. I've lied to the neighbor, saying that my grandma who is in a nursing home and just lost her husband, has an empty trailer in a mobile home park that we'll be staying it for the time being. This is actually true, up to the part that it's not where we're going. So if he were to show up there, it's an empty trailer, I know no one can get hurt that way.
I've dropped BF at work the last 2 days so that I could have the car here if I needed to get away. So now I've got myself locked in my apartment and BF is freaking out while he's at work, because I'm here alone. This is just so ridiculous. I'm scared to be in my OWN apartment
I can't wait to leave......

Good for you to get out of that situation but still be cautious. Good luck on the move and finding a new place.

I hope they don't give you a hard time getting your security back or hassle you about breaking your lease. Can't remember if you took pics of the problem but if you haven't do in case you need them somewhere down the line.
New place sounds awesome.~*Darlene*~

Our landlord released us from all obligations as of last Friday. He will return our deposits. I really feel for the guy, because this isn't his fault. My BF's boss's wife just called. He must have told them what was going on when he asked for their help. She wants me to come in today and help paint the back room. I gotta tell you, I love these people LOL. So I'll be out of here while the loon is here today

Good to hear you are able to move out!!! Understand what you mean about a really bad neighbor. Don't forget you do NOT have to tell your neighbor anything.

I think it is absolutely wonderful that your landlord is being so helpful to you. Unfortunately, we always seem to hear about the scumbucket landlords who could care less.

I agree with the poster who said you don't have to tell your whack-job neighbor anything. If he presses you for answers-be vague.
Also, it's legal to carry pepper spray in Florida. That may give you some peace of mind. Although, I do feel that I should tell you that Florida law expressly prohibits spraying a law enforcement officer. Source here.McD

Too bad you don't live closer to me. We could introduce your crazy neighbor to my crazy neighbor. Maybe a relationship would keep them away from us.
