Frugal Newbie from California
Hello Everyone,
My name is DJ and I've been reading this blog for a while but just joined the forum. I'm a married college professor living in Southern California. I came in to frugality last year due to faculty furloughs resulting in a 10% paycut. My husband and I had purchased a home about 6 months prior to the furloughs so that loss of income was quite devastating.
My husband really picked up the slack in terms of household bills so that I could concentrate on paying down my student loans and credit cards. My goal is to pay off my credit card bills in 3 years. To that end, we've cut back on eating out and I'm doing my own hair (and for a black woman, that's a huge deal y'all
). So I've joined to learn more about frugal living and get ideas from the trenches.

Hello Cali Girl,
It is always good to be frugal isn't it? Even if it was not initially by choice.
