    Default Credit Scores/Reports

So, the good news is, my credit score is 809. The bad news is, they had someone elses info crossed with mine, reporting on Experian. A moment of panic when I realized this person had a mortgage and tons of open credit!!! Luckily, I talked to an actual real person at Experian who confirmed the person's SSN was one digit off from mine and her info was entered by mistake. Also, luckily...she paid her bills on time! It's all fixed now and they removed 14 accounts from my report! We only have 4 open accounts. We only owe on the mortgage. Whew!!

Glad you caught the mistake and WTG for the Experian employee taking care of it over the phone. When my ex and I went to buy a house years ago we found out they had his mom and dad's car loan on our credit report. His first name was the same as his dads middle name so heck they must have the right person so no need to double check the SS#'s. We had to have the bank call and clear it all up before we could get a home loan.

Good thing you caught that. And got some good help.

I usually request one about every three to four months.....and that way I can rotate the reporting agencies.

Thanks for the reminder.............it is time to do one.

I hate to say this, but I bet your score goes down.

a good amount of open credit helps your score. Now that you have gotten it off of your report it will hurt.

I don't care...just want it accurate. We're not *using* credit anyway....we just have our mortgage.

Glad you caught that! It's scary oh how much "little mistakes" can really screw up everything.

I do the same thing. I just checked both mine and my husband's the other day.
