taking time out
Do you ever get fed up with home and reach a point where you just need the whole place to yourself? Even if it's just for a few hours?
:gaah: I'm so there.
The wife took her dogs for a 2 hour walk last weekend and O M G was the peace and quiet ever nice. No radio, no TV, no dogs, wife or any other distractions. Just me, a glass of iced tea and peace and quiet....ahhhhh.
Is it just me, or does a whole day sound like pure nirvana?

I totally agree. Sometimes you need that relief from noise and being plugged in. I love my family and sometimes I love them more when they go away-lol. If only for a little while. It helps you recharge your batteries.

Too funny. Dh used to work alot and the kids were in full time school. I had just lost my job w/ the Scouts. At that time the neighborhood was so quiet I had to turn on the tv to see if there had been a nuclear event and i missed it .Hours would go by before I saw a car. The quiet could be deafening. All my friends were working. Lonesome.
Now DD has graduated and can't find a job. DH travels alot but also works out of the house. DS is in high school so unless he goes to weight lifting he comes home. Sometimes the pets get lonely and want to rub on my leg or be petted and I think ARRGGH. Go away, all of you. I miss lonesome.
Ice tea sounds great. I'll be right over w/ my dogs, wouldn't want you to get ;lonesome? lol. Right. Just wait til you get those noisy chickens. He Heee.

I am envious of you. I feel guilty if I'm not with my dad tending to him. Enjoy your nirvana and have one for me too please

We get that around here. But then C kicks me out of the house for a few hours and it's all better.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

That's so ironic, Russ.
But yeah, I do agree that taking the time and just letting things be is awesome. I don't get to do that anymore at the house unless I put the kids to bed early and go to bed early myself. Last night, I went to bed and just laid there. I was exhausted, but my mind was racing and I couldn't get comfortable. As soon as I opened the window, and laid there listening to the peace and quiet, it was awesome.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I try to go out for a walk during my lunch hour every day. Just me, in quiet. I love it. It's the only "me" time I have so I throughly enjoy it.

YES! I know exactly what you mean! Once I get my kids off to school then it's a toss up whether dh is here working in his home office or out seeing cutomers/meeting with his salespeople. Sometimes he is coming and going or sometimes gone for the whole day. The evenings and weekends are so loud and busy around here that I cherish the time I have the whole house to myself during the day, so peaceful and quiet . . . ahhhhhh! NOTHING like it!

I'm here. Sometimes. And sometimes I'm taking care of DH, or doing something for MIL, or running errands--mine and other people's, and sometimes cleaning and cooking, and listening to everybody's problems and ....whew!

I took a nirvana day yesterday. I wasn't alone, but I announced it was my 'day off'. It was kind of 'half nirvana'. LOL.______

I love being alone in the house. I'm lucky that my dh works, and dd is in school, so most of the time it's just me at home alone.

I feel bad for people who don't know how to enjoy alone time.
I really think having that time helps you de-stress and find your inner balance, your happy spot so to speak.~*Darlene*~

I wish...
I homeschool our three boys, and even my 2 year old stopped napping so it's all day every day. After they are in bed and it's just me (DH works evenings, deployed right now) i'm too exhausted to really enjoy anything. I'm mostly just playing catch up with what didn't get done earlier before crashing in bed.
I'm working on getting a mother's helper though to just hang out with the kids a couple times a month while I get a break. Even if I end up just doing chores at least I will get to do it in peace without worrying what the kids are doing.
Sorry, I digress. I'm glad you had a fabulous quiet time.

I enjoy time alone....... sometimes. Too much alone time that goes on and on and on....... can be really lonely, isolating and sad for me, and that's not good! But some nice alone time, quiet time in the midst of all the chaos can be very relaxing, and recharging.

I think I've been alone in the house 3 times in the past 5 years. I really wish I could have a day to myself, I probably wouldn't relax though, just get stuff done. I don't know if I remember how to relax.
