Have You Ever Won a Prize?

What a pleasant surprise to find that I won the drawing that Sara Noel posted: the food saver system. I was shocked and exuberant all at the same time. Thanks so much , Sara, for making this available!!

Now, have any of you ever won something? Was it a random drawing or did you have to do something to qualify? How did you feel?

I once won a writing contest and the prize was a shopping spree at a jewelry store. I had to do the writing to enter, but what a wonderful time I had on that spree! But other than that, I rarely ever win anything.

I won a pair of custom made cowboy boots. Especially made for me. I have wiiiiide feet and can't wear storebought boots, so I never had a pair before I won these. They're so well done - the bootmakers have been in business in that little town in 'way south Texas for many years and have made boots for presidents and other famous (and rich) people.

Dh and I won an upgrade to a suite on our honeymoon cruise! We were so excited. It was awesome!!

My favorite prizes that I have won are...

*Pair of tickets to a Garth Brooks concert - Random drawing

*Evan Longoria bobble head - He's my favorite baseball player. Won it last week by being the first to correctly answer a trivia question about him.

*Various amounts of money. Largest amount was $2000 - games of chance and random drawings

*4 tickets to the Talladega race - radio call in contest

*4 tickets to the state fair - radio call in contest

There are a few others, but these are my most memorable.

Saturday the 17th DD won a $25 GC to Book-A-Million and a $10 GC to Best Buy at an AP study session. Then two weeks before that she won a $10 Books-A-Million GC, too.

My name was drawn in a lottery to be a torchbearer for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. I entered four application forms. I didn't know that other people were entering thousands, so it was long odds. There were about 6000 torchbearers that year.

I entered the lottery for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, but my name didn't get drawn.

I won a writing contest for a short story I wrote and won moola! I won a big leather dog leash at a grocery store. Dh just won a big bag of chicken feed this past weekend which I greatly appreciated (so did our chickens!). That's all I can think of for now...I'm not too lucky that way so haven't won a lot. My oldest ds is the one who wins stuff going all the way back til he was three and picked my Mom's dog to win at the dog track. She won $90 thanks to him! He's the only person I've ever seen that can go up to one of those claw machines and always get something. He plays those stupid games at the fair or at theme parks and wins and we all know that those are rigged. He won first place for a painting he did in fifth grade (it's now framed on our living room wall), etc., etc. I wish that I had that kind of luck.

I won $500 calling in to a radio station once.

I won $1300 at a casino playing the slot machine.

Some neat prizes and congratulations ForHISglory.
Lets see, I've won a large hersheys candybar when I won a jello eating contest as a kid ,lol. Also won a tote bag at the grand opening of a store.
Dh won $ for a work improvement suggestion at work & we bought an air conditioner. Also won $250 in a lottery.
Dd won a Large Hamburgler Doll at a McDonalds opening.
Not sure if Ds has ever won anything...

Yeah on winning!

I once won 2 day tickets to a music festival and a $50 giftcertificate. They were both drawings at the gas station.

As a kid I won a chance to be on a kids tv show and have lunch with them Poor mom drove me the 120 miles to Salt Lake and I was too scared! LOL

I won a T.V. at a Foster Parent Appreciation. It was the grand prize, funny thing about it I gave hubby his ticket before we walked in and told him I claim that t.v. right now. Grand prize is usally the last prize given that night it was the first and I got it.

-I won a free pizza last week when I brought in the most boxes of mac and cheese (100) to a local radio station during their month-long food drive. I was the first day - most boxes - winner. I took another 50 boxes to them today. BTW, it all comes out of my food budget.

-Last year I won a $10 gift card to a local coffee shop for doing the same thing, except it was at our bank; and another year I won pre-season football tickets to see a Chiefs game in Kansas City for contributing the most food where hubby works.

-I won a $50 gift certificate at an Outlet Mall during a Mother's Day drawing.

-Another Mother's Day winning special was from a flooring store. The random drawing got me a free $25 flower bouquet each month for a year. I gave them all away to other people, except one bouquet for myself, to spread the fun.

-I won season tickets to the Community Theater (random drawing).

-A random drawing at the Farmer's Market got me a HUGE box of food and flowers provided by the vendors.

-The biggest win was $500 (1st place in the dessert division) for an International contest for original, low-glycemic recipes.

I go on spurts when I enter contests a lot, so yes, I have won a few things. Nothing super big. Mostly makeup and skin care items. I won a sports bra once.
