Vibrating Baby Chairs
Today at a yard sale I picked up a vibrating baby chair for $3. It needs a wash but looks to be in great shape otherwise. Haven't tested the batteries out yet to determine whether it works or not.
This is a review on them. Anyone have any experience with these? My reason for buying it is, ironically, from Sex and the City. Miranda's baby, Brady, won't stop crying... until she puts him in her neighbor's vibrating chair. If you're interested in frugal living, minimalism and and

Yes! My kids are 15 & 10 and I used one for both of them. I loved mine, and they responded well to it. They always fell asleep in it, and it worked especially good when they were cranky, it was very soothing for them.

LOVE THEM! Wesley started using his while he was still in NICU. It helped calm his crying. Because of the collapsed lung, we had to keep him as quiet as possible to make sure it didn't get any worse.
Colicy Little Moo Monster that we call Maggie is 5 months old. She has worn out the vibrating feature on one chair and is now on her second. The vibrating helps sooth her, as well as eases her tummy upsets and helps her pass gas easily.McD

Wish I'd had something like that when my girls were colicky. The only thing that soothed them was a ride in the car!

I wanted to add that I think it is absolutely great that you are preparing for you baby so frugally.
Because of the huge amount of recalls though, I would always cross check your purchases against this site: Baby Center Baby Recall
The only good thing about buying new is that you can fill out the little registration card and the company should contact you in the event of a recall.
However, with as short of a time as babies use the product and the hefty cost of the item, I think it's great to purchase second-hand and do the leg work on potential recalls yourself.McD

I guess my children where the odd balls.
They disliked the vibrating seats and also swings.
It made them cry harder. If you put them in it when happy they would start crying.

Yeowzers!!! This thing takes a big ol' honkin' D-battery! Guess I better start scowering yard sales for chargers for it. I thought it would take a few AAs. It does work, though! I took the cover off and am gonna wash it first, before baby comes along. I suspect I'll be employing this thing quite often, when nothing else will soothe baby.

My oldest dd was very colicky (cried from 3pm - around 1am every single night!) My baby seat just happened to have a vibrating function on it. That was the only way she would sleep. Then I found this: Playskool - Lullaby Gentle Vibes - Vibrates baby bed Actually something close to it. That clipped onto the chair. It worked even better. She actually stopped crying and would sleep. I found out later that it was too quiet in our apartment, she needed more stimulation. Then as a new parent I was paranoid that she would become reliant on something like that to fall asleep. Our Pediatrician assured us that she has never seen anyone haul a vibrating chair off to college.

I never needed the chair for my 2nd child. She was a self soother. You just never know. My girls are 12 & 9 now. The oldest does have sleep problems still to this day - just like her dad. The youngest is like me, falls asleep as soon as her head hits her pillow!

Loved the vibrating chair for two out ot three. The swing worked on the third. I am totally impressed with how much you have gathered/saved for the baby. I wish I was that frugal before I had babies!!

Mine loved the chair...wish she still fit in it now, lol. Yes, it will suck up batteries. That was the only downside I found.
