OK, I'll bite 1st...lol! I'm gonna guess that it's designs (trees?), made from squeezed out Elmer's glue.
So am I right? Don't make me wait too long, ok? I'm curious now

If not glue, than white frosting?

I was going to guess trees as well, but if not, leaves was my 2nd guess.

Well, if it helps at all, the "fatter" and thicker ones look the most like coral to me!

I hate the fatter ones LOL...Here is a pic of the cake I am doing, the coral I made does not look exactly like it:

And here are what I tried to get it to look like:

Now that you mention coral, I can see it. Living in the desert, coral just isn't the first thing that pops into my mind.

I thought coral when I first saw them... some more than others, but I think if they are on the seashell cake, they would pass as coral... if you look at the original cake, the ones they have don't look much like coral if you take them off the cake.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

yup, it's coral in context according to the wife and myself. The wife said if you had a fish in the pic, coral would have been the first guess.

Try fewer branches coming off, and less of a central trunk. In the ones in the second picture, almost all the branches come up directly from middle, rather than branching off of other branches. I think that's what is giving it the tree look.

Once you get those on the cake it will not be a question that those are coral. Great job
