Ugh this cake is not going good!!!
Nothing about this cake is going good!!!
One--I woke up today at 2pm because I went to bed so late and then by the time DH and I got done running around its 6pm. I can only run my mixer til like 10 or the neighbors can prolly hear it and complain. Its 9 now.
I had to take a break.
The cake mix I used its kinda dry and kinda eh, no real flavor. But I have never had white cake so I am not sure what its suppose to taste like. I ask DH to taste it, and he said I don't know babe I am not sure what I am suppose to taste. He is of no help.
Then the buttercream recipe I ALWAYS make, first came out like a jello. Then I added more powdered sugar, and now its to runny. What the heck?! I am gonna make another batch.
Now my question is I had DH run out and get boxed white cake mix. I am thinking about using the cake I have already made, and then the boxed to. Do you think they could tell???
I am really worried this cake is not gonna turn out and its due tomorrow afternoon/early evening!

Okay so I found out why the cake is not that fantastic. It calls for 1 1/2 cups of butter. Stupid me, though 1 stick was 1 cup. Nope, 2 sticks is one cup. So I was 1 stick short of butter on the first batch of cakes. DUH!!!! Hopefully this one turns out better, LOL.

I vote for that cake stays home
but I like cake... hehehe.
Adding a box of pudding to a cake mix will also help moisten it and add extra flavor. The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

Pictures anyone: (things are getting better!)
First pic is the raspberry filling when I was making it.
Then there is a pic of my buttercream. (Don't ever make buttercream with a hand mixer, it was terrible!)
And then the first are 1/2 of the tiers filled and ready for the next one to go on top!
Yummy!

So I finished it and I am not happy with it AT ALL. The coral was breaking like crazy. Even the thick peices and it was SO difficult to stick it to the buttercream. I have no idea how they did it in the picture. I put the mini pearls on the cake like it shows in the picture and it made it look dirty almost. Like smudg-y. I have no idea what to do. I don't want to give this to her.
I am thinking about re-doing it. Totally re-doing it. Only problem is I may have to drop this cake off at like 2pm because they once again changed DH's work time and he still does not know.
I am ready to cry. And its not blue like the picture shows. Its off-white.

~I think it's really pretty, really! I think only the artist sees all the little things and labels them mistakes. Most people just want a general cake impression and then have it taste good.
I think if someone is paying you instead of a bakery than they probably aren't expecting absolute perfection anyway.
Still looks good to me though.

I know when you make something yu see all the flaws, but to me it looks great! I wouldn't go through the hassle and expense of making a second one.
