Today was very humbling...
I have a friend that I have known for about a year....about 2 weeks ago, someone was giving away a bunch of clothing on Freecycle. My friend was chosen as one of the takers. She spent over an hour in the burning sun going through bags of clothing for my,hers & other families. I felt really horrible that I couldn't go out to help her (so many things going on with the family).
Fast forward...she chose a pair of capris for herself & ran them through the laundry. She finally wore them and put her hand in the pocket and found.....$15. Oh my gosh, I was sooo excited for her...told her to go buy a hamburger or something for the kids.
Today...she came over & we swapped coupons. When I was going through the inserts, I saw $15 paperclipped to the insert. Believing that she accidentally left the money attached to the inserts on a shopping trip, I immediately called her & told her that she needed to come back & pick up her money.
She intentionally hid it in w/ the coupons b/c she knew that I wouldn't accept it if she were to have offered it to me...what a stinker!lol She said that when she pulled that money from her pocket, she first thought of me and it was like God had told her that she should give it to me.......I was so incredibly humbled....I felt like crying.....what a wonderful heart of gold.

Awwwww, that`s nice. Why not invest it in groceries, and then take her over a casserole made from those ingredients? That way, you both benefit!

What a creative and sweet way for her to give to you. It is very difficult to accept help, she knew that, and wanted to do it in a way you could accept. She would not do this for you if you were not a wonderful friend in return. Hugs to both of you as you walk through this journey and friendship together.

When I was growing up, there was an elderly lady who lived down the street from us. She would walk over and have tea with my mom a couple times a week. Every year, just before Christmas, she would come over and visit and bring a big bag. And no matter how much we watched her or tried to discourage it, there would always end up being presents from "Santa" under our tree after she'd left. No matter how many times we tried, she wouldn't accept gifts from us, nor would she admit that she had given us any gifts. We realized it was a game for her, and she really enjoyed it, so we just let her go about it. She wasn't rich or anything, it was always something handmade like mittens or scarves, or cookies. She had a family of her own but they didn't live close, so I think she looked on my brother and I as her grandchildren next door. She was so sweet.

Love to hear there are still such wonderful people in the world. She will get paid back for her kindness; what goes around comes around.
LadyNada; just shows you don't have to be rich to be kind. Too bad the whole world of people doesn't understand that.
