Major storm just went through
Had major storm tonight with hail (some the size of a soft ball), severe lightning, wind, tornadoes, electric out, 4 inches of rain. A mature tree in our back yard crashed, but missed the house. Now we are expecting a second wave in about 20 minutes. Yikes!
Last June, a tornado tore through our home in MO and took down 24 trees on our property and trapped us until chainsaw crews could get us out. Then we moved to this state, and BOOM! At least what has happened tonight is not nearly as bad as last year.Spiritual:

Oh I'm so sorry. Please stay safe and keep your ears peeled. We just got the water out of our bsmt from yesterdays storm and last week the drain was backing up. This weather world wide is getting me but at least we aren't near that freaky sink hole.

Um... Aren't you in Oregon? If so, I am scared! Those storms are supposed to move north. We haven't gotten it yet (near Portland).

How scary. That hail can be something else, reminds me of a youtube video Greebo posted in chat once. The damage it can cause, zowie. Glad that tree missed your house and hope that it'll be a milder storm season after this.

Nope, she's in Iowa.
And since you all know I am crazy already
I'll just fess up that I LOVE spring storms. The excitement, the thrill, the eeriness of it all..... I've been in some doozies, and I loved every single second of it.
Once, we lived in Kearney, NE and we had a massive storm come through, complete with hail the size of softballs with great big daggers sticking out of them. The ripped everyone house to shreds. We all got new cars, roofs, siding, windows, carpet, and furniture.... it was wild! and I loved it!!!
Can I say once more how much I hate CA, and how much I miss Iowa!?!?!?!
But D~ glad you are OK, I saw those storms coming thru last night, spoke to a friend who said it was pretty wild.

Yes, I'm in Iowa. It was a roller coaster night. Funny, when I was a kid, I was like IntlMom in relishing the storms. I'd stand out on the porch and just let the wind push me around. But now.... I hate them.
Well, we assessed damage this morning. Besides the tree down, we have plugged gutters (but that's easily fixed), and lots of limbs to pick up. Still need to get up on the roof and see if there was any damage. Then we need to see about disposing of the tree. We used to burn wood in our former home, but here we don't do that. Maybe we'll do a give-away.Spiritual:

So glad you are OK!!
I too, love storms, love the excitement, but not property damage! Eek! We had a really crazy one last year and ended up having to have our roof replaced. It was the biggest storm I have ever seen in my life! The whole house shook and the windows rattled. I thought for sure they'd all be broken. The hail pounded, thankfully it was only the size of marbles, but so much it looked like it had snowed, everything was white. There was a river of water flowing down the street you could ride a boat in. The lightning did not cease, the sky was lit up like a 4th of July finale! After about 20 minutes it abruptly stopped, and it was eerily calm. I heard the next day that a tornado had touched down not too far away.
For this former CA girl, it was exciting and also quite a shock at the same time!

Wow....I thought that you were talking about Texas. North of here will be getting some major storms & then it will be here later this afternoon for us.They have severe weather alerts on the weather site.Thunderstorms and tornadoes have always fascinated me- from a distance. After experiencing being inside a mobile home,in the middle of the night, a tornado came ripping up the field & nearly took the home. When I woke up at first, it felt as if I were on a boat....so thankful that my dad finished strapping down the home w/steel ties shortly before it happened . When it was light, we saw the path that the twister had taken....through the front field...took a huge oak tree & cork-screwed it right out of the ground & crashed it through our new garden fence...came up by the home & knocked a shed(next to the home) off of its concrete foundation...then traveled onto our neighbor's property & ripped up some trees there & took out a part of his windmill(for water). It was reported that there were at least 30 reports of tornado touchdowns in our county alone. I was 15 May 1980, Bee County Tx. Sorry this post was long.

We had some nasty weather in the metro too, FHG, but nothing like what you guys got.
It was thundering very loudly and very close to our house at about 10:30 and Wesley came running into my bedroom with a blanket, his pillow-Lola, and 5 stuffed animals. He said, "Mommy, I thought you might be scared so I came to snuggle buggle you."
I saw pictures on the news this morning of the baseball size hail. I know there were some farms that sustained major damage down south from us a bit. Glad you are okay!McD

WHAT?!?!?! Good to hear you are ok. Stay safe. Really do not know how people live in areas where tornados, earth quakes, tropical storms happen. Take care of yourself!!

Glad the damage wasn't worse.
