Wasn't the Peru and Aruba murders 5 years to the day?
I am glad he confessed, and hopefully he will stay in prison. It still doesn't offer closure to families.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Yes! I saw this this morning, also!
Finally, this little slimeball will pay for his crimes (at least one).
I hope, like newleaf, that he confesses to the Holloway murder, so that Beth and family can know what happened to Natalee.
I read that they are looking at where he's been traveling for the last 5 years, and seeing if there are any unexplained deaths or missing girls there, that they might tie to him.
So young to be so deviant and evil.______

stuff like this makes me wonder whether predators, sociopaths, or psychopaths are "made" or "born" ...

This is exactly how I feel. For some reason this story really got my attention 5yrs ago when it happened. I think probably because I was that girl when I was her age. When I was 18 I took a trip to Jamaica with my best girlfriend. This so could have been one of us. And how the govt in Aruba handled it is just appauling. What I find amazing is how many people still travel to Aruba. I look at them and say have you forgotten what happened?
Most have no idea what I'm taking about.
I hope that the families can somehow find peace.Judy

He is really spooky if you watch him.
Maybe the auth. in Peru can get out of him where the other body is..........they might not be 'quite a nice'
as Aruba on the questioning.

number one rule is to never go off alone with some u dont know. if u know the person let your group know who u r going with and where u r going..
its ok to go off with a local but never alone. someof my family is from the west indies and thats what they told me..its harder to get rid of two bodies than one..bah bah bah..i have been taught so many safty rules dont know if any r true or not..car loan 12/2006 14,687.93

No, and thats not what I'm saying. van der sloots father was a big wig in Aruba and the govt bascially did nothing to help Halloway's family, didn't cooperate in the least. they questioned him twice, had him on video tape confessing to killing her and still they let him go. It was just a big game to them.
Just found out that his father died (not sure when). Maybe thats why the police in Peru were able to get the confession out of him. Daddy wasn't there to save him.
Everyone has their own opinion on this and as I said, for some reason this story hit me as I was totally that girl at that age. Teenagers are invinceable, they don't think of consequences, especially if they have friends around. A few drinks, a handsome guy and what 18 yr old girl wouldn't go for a quiet walk away from the group? In my opinion, not the average 18yr old thats for sure.Judy

Judy---I think his father died in February. I think they thought heart attack. I think guilty consciences can play a role in death, too. Stress is a b!tch.
LadyKemma---I read an article on that very thing this morning--nature vs. nurture, regarding Van Der Sloot. I'll try to find it.______

I have been reading reports that say he said Stephany (the girl from Peru) looked at his laptop and read that he was the one that was suspect in the Natalee Holloway murder.
He said he went into a rage and killed her, then.
And as regards to going someplace with someone we don't know.....isn't that what every one of us does on a first date with someone? Even if it's not to a hotel room? We could be going to the movies or dinner, but we still get in a car with someone we don't know....
My point being that NOBODY deserves to die no matter what they do. They could have stayed safer (these girls) yes, but haven't we all---especially when we were young---put ourselves in a not-so-safe position at least once or twice? I have. It's by the grace of God that it was never me that died.
He should have been tried and convicted in Aruba, where he first (as far as we know) killed. Little a$$hole.
