    I emailed the health department explaining what happened and that I was concerned they needed the temperatures checked. Thank you for that suggestion, I wouldn't have thought of that and I wouldn't want anyone getting sick.

    Email from Health Department!!! I'm so excited! thanks for the suggestion. (name removed for privacy)

    I just wanted to follow up on the complaint you submitted this weekend via email. I went out to the Garfield Safeway yesterday. We discussed their discard policy and they do remove the milk from sale the day of the expiration date. They are allowed to sell it up to that date. Also, we reviewed storage practices, return policies and temperature control. At the time of the inspection the cooler was holding a 3 degrees warm at 44 degrees. Warmer temperatures can allow milk to spoil quicker. They sent in a work order to have the cooler maintenanced while I was at the inspection. I will go back to the establishment to verify the repairs.
