Declutter regret?
Last weekend, the kids purged their rooms. And those bedrooms feel so much lighter ... and actually cleaner.
So, this weekend, I started decluttering. Tonight I decided to donate some yarn I kinda-like-but-don't-really-love. It's sitting in the car, waiting for a donation drop off in the morning.
I keep telling myself, It will bless someone else. In fact, someone else will probably be thrilled to have it. And the sale will benefit a charity I support.
But part of me really wants to run out there, sneak it into the house, and cram it back into my closet.
I'm trying to convince myself that I'm doing the right thing.2012 Knitting in progress

I hear you! It never fails that, the week after DW convinces me to get rid of a bunch of stuff, there is something from that pile that I need to replace because I actually needed it.

I have gotten rid of many things I wish I had kept. Maybe you should hold onto it a little longer, give yourself a certain amount of time and if you don't use it, then get rid of it.

If you can pull it out of the car and start a new project today, go get it. If not, let it go. You had your chance!
I had a boyfriend like that once, wasn't in love but thought I'd better keep him around. He, like yarn and clutter, kept me from the best stuff in life, peace of mind and true love.

I keep a donation bag going all the time. I've taken one thing out and kept it once since I implemented this habit.

Well, it's bulky yarn. I mostly knit with fingering. It's hand-wash only, so it would be a big wet mess if I made, say, an afghan with it.
I'm leaving to drop it off in 10 minutes.
Let someone else use it for hats!2012 Knitting in progress

Let it go. As much as I like to keep yarn around for crocheting, hand wash only bulky weight yarn is not going to be fun to maintain as a finished project.

It's hard sometimes, but I tell myself that if it's been in the back of the closet over a year, or it was something I forgot I had in the first place, then I can probably continue to live without it.

It helps to be my age and forgetful.
I can never remember what I donated after a day or two.
That said--yarn is REALLY hard to part with. I can relate.______

Of all of the 'treasures' that I have passed along, there is only a small percentage that I wish I had kept. Certainly not enough to keep me from purging. Yup, I might need it someday - but lack of clutter is definitely more appealing than waiting for 'someday'!!
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Get rid of it!!!
Think about it - it's not stuff you NEED, it's most likely stuff you WANT - big difference.
