Fireworks in your Town?
I was just curious as to what the firework policy in your town. Last year, our city just responded to complaints, confiscated the fireworks, etc.
This year, due to the large number of complaints last year, our city has a zero tolerance policy. They are issuing citations to appear in court. Hubby's looking forward to those encounters with the public, lol.
So, how does it work in your area?McD

In our city and our parish (like counties for the rest of you) fireworks are against the law here. However, they are readily available in neighboring parishes within 10 minutes of here. So you know that means people will go and buy them over the line and come back here and shoot them.
I like to watch them on TV, that's about it. They freak my dog out. For NYE, a family around the corner popped them for like 2 hours straight, bugged the piss out of me and just seems like a waste of money.
The penalty here will vary, sometimes that cops just say stop it and sometimes they will be given a citation.Working on Our Debt a Day at a Time:

In GA we are only allowed to have sparklers. I don't know what happens if someone sets off those big fireworks. I am always to scared to let DH try it for fear he will set the house on fire.

My area (northern co) wont sell fireworks that leave the ground. You have to drive up to WY to get those. (which everyone does) then don't get caught setting them off. If you love your fireworks, make friends with your neighbors so they wont call you in. *grin*
We can have the small stuff and sparklers and have many booths all through town.
Everyone, please bring in your pets.LDR

If you live within the city limits, you are not allowed to pop fireworks. The ones who violate the ordinance are given a citation.
If you live outside of the city limits, which we do. You can enjoy fireworks, but the grass is so dry and there is a burn ban that I hope I don't see anyone popping them. I don't want a grass fire heading toward my house!~*Michelle*~

As far as I know our township doesn't have any. You hear lots of them out here at night this time of year. We are rural. My oldest works at a fireworks store and has gotten tons for free. Glad we can light them off! We have had tons of rain no no worries on fire this year.

Personal fireworks are illegal in NJ. However, most towns have a 4th of July celebration where the town gets an ordinance to set off a display.

You can shoot them off here in town until 10 pm on the 4th.We always have a big free fireworks show at the football field every year plus a carnival in the park on the square. The carnival has been going on here forever there are pictures of it from back in the 1920's.

Most fireworks are illegal here. I'm not sure if they just confiscate them or issue tickets. I still hear things like firecrackers going off though.

In our city they are not allowed. But, in all of our neighboring cities they are. Everyone sets them off here anyways. If the police come by, they just tell you to not do them anymore. But, they rarely even bother going around telling people to quit.
We drive to the next city over, about 15 minute drive, and get some every so often.
The minor league baseball team here does 15 or more professional firework displays after various games throughout the season. We get so many firework displays throughout the year between the ones by the baseball team and the ones by the city, none of us are phased by it anymore.DD (19)

its better to have and not need than need and not have

Same here........illegal.......and a $500 fine. they have cops all over ready for any reports.......tickets written, no excuses. Each city around will have their own display for the public.
You hear a few at homes......but they also report how many tickets were issued.
We just had one fireworks stand burn to the ground in Idaho.....the daughter of the gal working there lit one.......it went into the stand, landed just right on a package of others, and that was all she wrote!!! Nice early display......burnt up her car and her father's SUPER DELUXE pickup!! (he owned the stand!)
