    Default camera

I have a Kodak Easyshare camera that was a gift from my DS. I love being able to take pics of the Grands and have had a ball using it. Last Sunday we had a family beach day and of course I took my camera. Got some great shots. I made sure my camera wasn't in the sand but now it won't turn on and the shutter won't close. I figure it has sand in it somehow. Guess I'll wait and take it in to see if it can be fixed (will have ro wait til I can afford it). No real reason to post this just sad.

I agree ~ have you charged up the battery (or replaced them) just to be sure? Also, look in your manual or online for troubleshooting tips.

The first thing I did was replace the batteries. I tried troubleshooting but it says I need to have it looked at.

This camera is essentially crap. mine will act like the batteries are dead, the shutter is stuck half open and it has like a 5 step process I have to go through to load pics to the computer. Basically, you get what you pay for. This was a very cheap camera that I bought to replace my nikon that was stolen. It was like $70 at wal-mart.
I honestly don't think that mine is worth paying to have fixed. I'm keeping my eyes open for a good sale on a much better camera.
    Just my 2 cents!

Darn! I was hoping it was something easy. Do consider the cost of the camera vs. having it fixed. Get an estimate and then decide.

In the future, buy a disposable waterproof camera for the beach. They are cheap and no worries!

Agreed... they are cheap and probably not worth fixing (sigh). It will be Sept. before I can even think of getting something different. Something to look forward to.

If anyone has any advice on brand of camera to look for I would be grateful. I need something not too expensive.

I have found Nikons or Cannons to be the best for simple point and shoot cameras. However, they do cost more than kodaks. I keep an eye on buy.com, barganist.com, and signed up for dealsplus. If you keep an eye out, you can find them for under $100...especially when a newer model comes out!
Also check Target and Walmart daily deals regularly!

I have a SONY that I love but I am looking to trade up to a Canon Rebel (waaay in the future $$$$$). My SONY is easy to use and easy to get the pics on the computer. I've had it about 2 years with no problems so far Oh, it has rechargeable batteries so I don't have the battery expense.
