Lose of income /moving
I never thought I would be in the position I'm in I have lost half of my income then DH had to take a pay cut he lost 350 a week.We are in a small town not much for jobs. Now because of this we cannot afford our mortgage (it was a private lender no bank) so we have to move. Were I live it a long ways away from any thing stuff is shipped in we are 125 miles from a major city now I will be smack dab in the middle of the city I'm sure it will be a culture shock I have not lived there for 21 years. On the other hand though there is more jobs the paper is right full of them and there is more to do and I will be closer to my family .I grow up pretty close to where we are moving so I know the area .There is more crime and some things are more expensive some gas is cheaper. As far as crime we have our share I'm not too far from the triple homicide that happened this week where the 10 year old and his dad and their friend were stabbed to death (they still have not found those responsible ) so we have our share of crime but it is so isolated here.I have been home sick for quite a while and I think we will be okay my family is very supportive and are doing all they can to help .Any ways the reason for my post is that I thought we were good and this happened so fast that it actually shocked me . So any ideas on how to keep your head above water while moving and looking for work we have a small EF .Thanks
DH's chemo has ended and his Radiation treatments end Mon May 14 yeah...!!

My heart goes out to your family. Yes, it can happen quick with no inkling it is likely to happen.
I wish I had words of wisdom but don't so suffice to say, I'm so sorry. You know I'm wishing all of you the best.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Sorry to hear of your situation but sounds like things will be better in the long run. For a frugal tip, if you have Craig's List in your area you could put out a request for free boxes and packing supplies or put the word out on facebook, your friends, etc. A lot of people just throw boxes in their garage and forget about them.
For moving I always like the 18 gal or 20 gal rubbermaid (or cheap brand) totes. They stack great in a truck, you can wrap things of all shapes and sizes of them (such as clothes around a funky sculpture) and they have handles. After the move you can use them for storage if you are downsizing locations (they stack nicely against a wall) or sell them on Craig's list taking a small hit but getting some of the money back from the initial purchase. You can find them at walmart (eek, ha!) or Target sometimes as cheap as $3.88.
Do you have pets? Be really careful during moving if you have pets, they get all panicky during the packing stage. I shut mine in a bedroom during Move Day and put a HUGE sign on the door "DO NOT OPEN THIS DOOR, PETS INSIDE" so that people didn't wander in looking for more stuff to move. Move everything out of that room first, put the pets in, and make it VERY obvious that room is not to be entered.
Best wishes, hang in there!!LDR

Sorry to hear this is happening. It really can be difficult to understand that your life is suddenly changing and you have very little control.
However, it does sound as if you are making the most of it. Also, you still have 1/2 of you income. Many times you need to remind yourself of everything you still have.
Now is the best time to figure out what you want to keep and what you want to sell. Hopefully your friends and family can help you move to lower the cost. See what extras you can cut back on. Since you are moving hopefully you can down grade on things such as tv service, internet service, phone service, etc. So in that respect things are actually working towards your advantage.
Hang in there. Remind yourself that right now you are able to make your own decisions on how this situation will be handled. Many people in the same type of situation are faced with very little options.

Hopefully this will give you some breathing room, let you build up your finances again. My brother lived with us for a while, and we managed quite well. As others have said, you have taken affirmative steps to get yourself where you need to be and polan for where you want to be, so wishing you all success!
